If you want to eat the best Slovenian dishes, then you should visit Skarucna. This is one of those old Slovenian inns, where time stopped for a moment. Located on the old road to Brnik from the direction of Vodice. Ambience is beautiful and authentic. So it looks like inns several decades ago. Food is a separate issue. Slavko (the... More

Perhaps the best food theater ever. Slavc (chef and main presenter) is having such an energy that you can not match him ever. The food (the very local + the very Slavc inventions) not only goes and goes - - and goes - and goes... But then you forget what you ate since you can not avoid perfect wine selection... More

When you enter, the famous bar in Star Wars might be the first thing coming to your mind. People at the crowded bar that don't fit, a million of souvernirs from the past, revolutionary photos, hundreds of vinyl records and an actually constantly used gramophone, empty and half empty liquor bottles all around the bar… Do not be misled. It... More

Our group of four "only" had four hours for lunch. But what four hours! A succession of traditional Slovenian dishes, drinks and wines (and also some apple juice) was really perfect on a cold winter day. Food and wines were of very high quality. Setting and atmosphere were warm and cosy. Service was extremely friendly and attentive. Good value for... More

Everything already said is absolutely true. An out of this world experience, with great hospitality, very warm environment, excellent wine and unbelievable tasty and authentic SloveNian food. I think the highlight of our trip will be the experience in Skarucna. Visit with plenty of free time and you will definitely won't regret.

I agree with all previous posts, don´t want to repeat the same things but it´s definitely a unique experience. Make sure you go with plenty of time and hunger, but make sure you go, you definitely won´t regret it!!!

Amazing food and everything. The thing I adore the most about it, is that they serve only slovenian home-made food. Absolute delight

Eat here. Yes, you'll need forever (don't count with anything under 6 hours), and yes, you'll have the mother of all hand-overs the next day, and, again, yes, it's a bit out of the way - but when you're presented with a half dozen plates of starters, for bowls of different soups that would each feed a family of four,... If you're in Slovenia, this is an exprience that's not to be missed!! Not only are you treated to food that the owner, Slavko, shops and/or hunts for himself, you are also up for some great music coming from his extensive vinyl collection. When dining, you'll find Slavko tirelessly waiting on the tables, explaining each dish, along with it's wine... More
