It was great to have dinner in an old cattleshed which was accurately renovated respecting its century-old structures. I retain a pleasant recollection of the resturant "La Mangiatoia", where I was several times during my week-long stay in Orciatico. This resturant is run by a pleasant family and the service, though informal, is attendive and cordial. The choise is not... More

I have spent two weeks in this sweet little village in Tuscany, and it was a delightful experience and everyone was so nice. This is why "La mangiatoia", where we (film and cast crew) were eating every day, cannot get away with their bad behaviour. The food is average, sometimes too salty, often overcooked, the wine is cheap supermarket booze... More

Orciatico is a very small sleepy little village about 20 minutes from Volterra, but this little restaurant was worth going for. Family run, honest Tuscan food at really reasonable prices. Lovely little courtyard/balcony outside. Our first night in Tuscany and one of the most enjoyable

we ate here during a stay in a local agroturismo at the foot of the hill. the food and especially the antipasti were fantastic, the wine plentiful and the atmosphere very friendly. We ate until we could eat no more. would thoroughly recommend a trip here to taste authentic italian food from a very welcoming host. The steak was fantastic.... More

If you want to eat very good, and do not bother with choosing a food from the menu, this is the place to eat. They offer 2 menus. for 20 or 30 € / person (including some local wine). The chef brings you, what they have. You can not choose what you will eat. But everything was so tasty and... More

Had an absolutely delicious meal at La Mangiatoia and at a reasonable price. Max the chef speaks good english and because we were the only ones in the small restaurant, he chatted to us about life in Tuscany and he was so friendly. The restaurant has beautiful brick walls and feels like you have stepped back in time. We stayed... More

We visited La Mangiatoia during our six days in Orciatico this August. The restaurant was literally 20 seconds from the door of our apartment which was super convenient! We had read good reviews on Trip Advisor so were adamant we would visit it at least once. The terrace of the restaurant overlooks Orciatico and is a lovely setting for an... More

We ate at La Mangitoia twice during our visit to Orchiatico and it was wonderful both times. There is no formal menu, instead you get to sample whatever fresh food is available. The first night we had the full offering which consisted of 5 courses. The first course was a selection of garlic breads, bruschetta, parma ham and melon. The... More
