This was one of the best meals I've ever had in a restaurant. We were a party of three, and each of the meals was delicious. I had Jumbo Prawns in the most delicate filigree pastry served with an amazing Hoi Sin sauce. My main course was Honey glazed Guinea Fowl which was served on a bed of scallion mash,... More

Lots of outdoor seating here at the Derg set in the heart of the village of Terryglass. We ordered coffee and scones after a longish walk down to the lake and really enjoyed the huge fresh scones seved promptly with jam and cream- very filling and tasty !

A group of us were at a wedding in Coolbawn lately and decided too go too the Derg for a meal the night before.. The look and atmosphere of the pub was nice but it just seemed there was no set way of doing anything everything was all up in the air. The waitresses/waiter were very friendly and obliging but... This restaurant has very good reviews, nice atmosphere and cosy interior but the food is in the best very average. My choice was - cod in Provençal sos and green pesto. It sounds great and presentation of the dish was very good. The only problem was the taste or rather lack of taste. My partners trout wasn't grate either. (muddy... More

Great little spot with all the right ingredients, an open fire, friendly and intuitive staff, great food, good value and in a lovely little village. I need an excuse to get back there!

Can't wait to go back again. Joyce & Mick are the best hosts. I have been there on numerous occasions....always excellent. I love that table at the fire. Keep doing what you're doing.

Had a wonderful lunch in The Derg today. Three of us had fish and chicken mai.ns and delicious deserts. The room was comfortable and excellent service. Also the welcome on arrival was warm and friendly. Looking forward to going there again soon.

We were visiting the Lough Derg area for a day trip and were on our way back to Ennis to stay. Friends told us we should really stop in to the Derg Inn in Terryglass for lunch. They were right! We were cold and damp from our castle visits, and we sat down next to a peat fire. By the... More

I've been to this restaurant before and had a nice meal but yesterday was a whole different experience, whether it was down to the inviting fire or the extra attention we got due to how quiet it was, i don't know, and i really couldn't care less because it was one of the most pleasant dining experience I've ever had!!!!!!... I’m very sorry to have to strongly disagree on a public forum Paul but your wife asked for a specific table when booking. Our manager took the booking and explained to your wife that she would put in a request for that particular table for you the night. We have to manage our business especially on the busiest night of... More
