Well deserved star

Second time at les Fresques and now one Michelin-star. We had a 3-course menu for 55 euro, and it tasted lovely. Perfect service and good winelist with a lot of wines from the area. We had a Ch. Location = Stunning, like a fairytale film. We did not stay here but in central Bergerac and it was worth the journey. Service = Out of this world. Helped us with menus and explained what each course was when we ordered the taster menu recommended by the chef. Food = WOW best food I have ever eaten, ever and I... More

We live and work very close to this hotel and restaurant and were extremely pleased to find out we now have a Michelin Star restaurant on our door step. Our first experience in May 2014 was fantastic, 10 out of 10, could not have been any better. However went again in August and what a disappointment. Very average experience for... More

We ate here before it was awarded a star and thought it worthy of the status then. Unfussy but elegant food, excellent service, friendly and with good attention to detail - and an interesting wine list with many locally sourced wines. There was a small problem with one of our starters and this was resolved immediately and with good grace.

The terrace at Chateau Vigier is a heavenly place for dinner. The degustation menu is extremely well balanced and food is excellently cooked but, to my mind, lacks that certain je ne sais quoi that marks out a Michelin starred establishment. There were no gastronomic delights which would entice me back at this price. The estate wines were good, but... More

Chateau Vigiers is a special location. The terrace is superb and the food is high quality. All courses were extremely good and well cooked. Langoustines can be tough if overcooked – mine were succulent and delicious. The main course lamb was excellent and still pink as requested Similarly the wines were very well chosen. The local sweet Saussignac with the... More

It is the second time we have stayed and had a meal in Les Fresques restaurant. Each time the food and service have been perfect. The first time we had the gastronomique menu where we did not have a choice of what we ate. We were a little concerned as the French have a reputation for eating nose to tail... More

My wife and I stayed at the Chateau recently for 6 nights. We ate in Les Freques 4 of the nights and in the Brasserie the other 2. We found the food very very good. It's gastronomic but not too fussy so it's also filling and wholesome. We just loved it. The staff were exceptional as well. We could not... More

The restaurant staff were excellent here and very attentive. However we were stung by accepting the offer of a cheese course and teas which were not included in the price of the supplement to the half board rate we paid to eat in this restaurant. I certainly don't think it worth the cost.

We have visited before and decided to return and try the gourmet menu (decouverte) We were early when we arrived but were welcomed well and asked if we wanted to sit at our table - which was laid on the terrace with lovely views of the golf course and lake The front of house service was excellent - even when...
