Wonderful food, fantastic location, view and ambience, and great owners and staff. What more could you ask for? We've been coming here for about 10 years and it's a must every time we're on Samui. It has never failed to impress.
So we haven't been to Ad Hoc for a while as it is a bit far from our house on Samui. But we have guests and it was our first choice. And it was utterly wonderful. I don't normally wax lyrically about places but if...you want delicious food, charming staff, amazing views and special ambience come here. It is also calm and serene compared to the madness of Fishermans' Village. We will be back very soon.More
Came upon this gem while with some friends for a happy hour. Gorgeous sunset, listening to waves lapping on shore. Fantastic happy hour prices and staff was awesome. Returned the next evening for dinner with our 2 children. Once again some of the best service...we have had on the island. The owners were so fabulous with our animal obsessed children. They let them play with their dog on the beach and they played forever with their new kitten. Food was delicious with a wonderful Japanese influence on flavors. We look forward to our next dinner and sunset at this fantastic place!More
Amazing gem of a place! This is must visit. We went there for sunset drinks and dinner. Couldn’t ask for a better spot. Quiet and nestled right on the water. Listening to water lap against the beach, sipping on a beer, watching the fire of...the sun slowly dim over the horizon. I wish I could make the moment last an eternity.More
Fabulous waterfront, sunset dining! We had such a lovely evening! The team was so warm and welcoming. The ambience is unbeatable. What a view! And then there is the food! Started with the genius veggie tartare and the truly indulged (in the best way possible!)...on teriyaki beef and lamb shoulder. This was topped off with an amazing chocolate fondant. It was fun, beautiful and delicious! Highly recommend!More
Not sure if it was Corona Virus keeping people away but the restaurant was near empty on a Saturday night. It’s such a shame as the staff were lovely & the food & cocktails were delicious.
We visited Ad Hoc twice during our short stay in Koh Samui and it quickly became our favourite place to eat. Everything about this place is first class, the location, the excellent choice and quality of food and the staff were friendly and very professional....We went around 6pm on both visits and enjoyed the beautiful sunset. On our 2nd visit, my husband and I both ordered the steak and we both agreed it was the best steak we’ve ever tasted. If you want a really nice restaurant, that isn’t pretentious, we would thoroughly recommend Ad Hoc.More
Myself and my fiancé came across this restaurant on google. We saw all the reviews were fantastic given the walk along a dark road. 100% worth the visit!! The views of the sunset while having dinner was amazing, watching the fishermen as the sun set....We both had fish for our main course and it was so flavoursome! Best seafood we have had in Thailand yet. We couldn’t resist dessert so shared a Tiramisu and it did not disappoint. Fabulous service too, the staff were all so friendly and made recommendations based on what food we like.More
Delicious food, very attentive staff and a beautiful setting right on the beach with a view to die for. One of the nicest restaurants on the island. Thoroughly recommended..
Took my family here as it was right next to the villa we rented. Really great food and cocktails. A great spot to enjoy an evening and topped off by being a very short walk along the beach to where we were staying.
Family of 6 with two vegans and a vegetarian that eats fish! Not the easiest to cater for but Ad Hoc did it beautifully. I would not describe this as a cafe. The food was delicious befitting the best restaurants Bophut has to offer. It...is beachside with beautiful sunset views. We ordered an array of Thai, Italian and seafood appetisers and mains. All were superb. That tempted us to have dessert as well and there was silence eating them - so yum! The staff were very proficient and caring. We also enjoyed a range of cocktails and wine. All in all a fabulous meal thank you Ad Hoc. Our villa is next door so I know we’ll be back.More
This eatery is a walk outside the Fisherman's Village along a busy unlit road, we walked it in the dark but most would probably prefer a taxi ride. It is lovely location with a nice view of the sea and the lights of the Village....I can't recall what we had as starters but for mains we had the Australian tenderloin which was delicious, juicy and very tender, cooked to perfection. The pasta meatballs were also enjoyed. The dessert was Banana Foster, a banana flambé, really lovely. We also ordered a Chilean Merlot, quite nice but as with bottles of wine in Thailand, costs more than its quality should. The total, including the wine and coffees was €102. Don't have the wine and it is very good value for the good food. RecommendedMore
This looks like it use to be some fisherman’s house now turned into a very rustic beach cafe . Beautiful setting in a very simple way. 10 meters from high tide, the place is small but very cosy, clean and romantic specially at night for...dinner. They also serve lunches but I can’t imagine what it would be like with the daytime heat , as there s no shade apart from a very big tree. A Japanese lady runs the place and she s left it just the way it was apart from few essential alterations. The food also simple but very tasty. Well worth a visit . East meets west menu. Staff few and friendly .More
Chose Ad Hoc Cafe based on Trip Advisor reviews and were not disappointed. Food, service and setting were excellent. We arrived just after sunset, which would have been a fantastic view. Still a little color in the sky looking out on bay of Bophut and...could hear the water lapping on shore just a few feet away. We walked from the opposite end of Fisherman’s Wharf (about 15-20 min). Map showed AdHoc was only .1 miles from the end, but we couldn’t see it due to curve in road. There was no sidewalk and traffic was pretty constant, so we turned around. At the last minute we decided to call the restaurant. They sent someone to pick us up! (Also gave us a ride back to wharf after dinner!) We had lamb and teriyaki steak, and shared banana flambé for dessert. All great. Honeycomb (?) drink and Rose wine also very good. Not cheap by Thai standards, but well worth the walk!More
