Gastronomic Success

An outstanding restaurant which successfully follows a formula of one set menu with beautifully fresh, locally sourced ingredients at a very reasonable price. Attentive, charming and informative staff in an easily accessible location. A culinary 'must visit' in the Salento region.

We arrived with 2 toddlers in tow - no one raised on eyebrow despite it obviously not being a place suitable for kids. They just coo-ed over them and let us get on with it. Luckily the kids soon fell asleep to leave us to enjoy one of the most pleasant dining experiences we've ever had. Amazing food, great wine,... More

In the February-rain we followed the recommendation of our hotel owner. On our last evening of a rainy week in Salento we went to Gustavo Braceria. Everey dish was explained in English. Local visitors were coming in. We love the surprise of not knowing ... local products, typically local food. A good bottle of wine. Nice conversation and a lovely... More

Gustavo Braceria Ate here in June (again late review as only just getting my reviews posted) and was totally delighted with the food, the ambiance and the beautiful nature of Carmela and her efforts to ensure 4 non Italian speaking Brits knew what and where all the dishes came from was amazing. We all loved everything about it, but the... More

We were intrigued by the reviews and were determined to go there. It took three nights and was well worth it. We both have healthy appetites and Gustavo left us both full and very satisfied. So happy to have local food with such variety. The antipasto itself was almost a meal. The restaurant was. Rey busy, but our host paid... More

We were taken to this restaurant by a good friend that lives in the Salento area, wow it was so good, gorgeous space outside lit by lanterns. No menu, so I was a little worried but everything was amazing, can't remember how many courses we had, but they were all explained in detail by our lovely waiter, a fixed price... More

no menu. Thats how this eating adventure begins. After sitting down to a lovely table in an outdoor garden with lanterns and covers hanging from the trees, we were greeted with a smile by none other than the owner. After asking for a menu, I realized what fantastic situation I found myself in. Essentially, there is a flat charge of... More

I don't often write about restaurants I don't like, but in this case I feel the urge to advise people, who travel to Apulia for its superb food. Don't go, don't waste your time, the food is absolutely useless, not typical, not even good. And the service is also quite bad. There's plenty of good places around Salento, don't waste... More

Stunning food, beautiful wine, an English-speaking wait or made for a fabulous evening outside under the stars. You MUST try this place!

Wonderful meal and experience. The setting is charming, sitting in the softly lit garden on a warm summer evening. Carmela and her staff are very friendly, and our waiter was able to explain each dish in English to our table since our Italian is abysmal. Best of all was the food which was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. As already mentioned... More
