Still great

I have been here many times and it still lives up to standards. The best pupusas in Costa Rica and now with a large menu of traditional food. Be sure to have besides pupusas tortilla aliñada and agua dulce. Worth the drive or the deviation from route 27.

I love this place, it use to be more popular before the route 27 was inaugarated, so if you were heading to beach by the old route, this place was a mandatory stop. I am such a fan that now, even with the new route I continue to visit (not as often but continue). I think these are the best... More

It is a popular place that I waited in line to get in. They are named after their Salvadoran Pupusas, corn cake stuffed with beans and other items like cheese and pork and served with vinegary coleslaw. They were okay and priced great! But not my favorite food in Atenas. There are other items on the menu and I may... More

Never heard of it before we arrived, but thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Waiter spoke English and answered all questions thoroughly.

Two non-spanish speaking gals venturing out for lunch can be somewhat scary, but we absolutely loved the food and service at this roadside restaurant. I honestly could not tell you what we ate but it was delicious. The waitress went above and beyond trying to explain the menu as best she could. If you are staying in the area and... More

At the very popular La Fiesta de las Pupusas Restaurant in Atenas, Costa Rica, founded 32 years ago by Salvadoran immigrant Julia Flamenco, pupusas are made with 100% homemade cornmeal dough called masa. No flour (so no gluten worries), no salt, and no oil is added. They make their own cornmeal from fresh corn -- no processed ingredients! Expert pupusa... More

We met some friends for dinner there a few weeks ago. I had never had pupusas but really enjoyed them. They're not the healthiest foods but my 3 year old twins enjoyed them, they are fast, and cheap! This is a very family friendly restaurant. All of the guests were playing with my crazy kids. The only down side is... More

The pupusas restaurant was excellent! Pupusas were excellent. I had never had anything like them before and found them to delicious and filling. The prices were excellent and the food was great. I highly recommend the restaurant for a tasty lunch with friends and family.

If you have never had popusas before, this is the time for you to start! Popusas are originally from El Salvador, they are fried hand made tortillas stuffed with chicharron (pork rind), beans and cheese. This place is usually full which tells you a lot about it. The service is a little bit slow, but it's for the same reason.... More

A pupusa is kind of like a combo egg fu yung and crepe. This restaurant in very near my house, and popular, because most of the locals are having pupusas, which are quite cheap, about $2. The best one is with pork, called chicharones here. Goes well with a Bavaria Dark beer. There are other things on the menu at... More
