Nice Sunday lunch on the terrace but food not perfect......

My wife and I had a really enjoyable experience eating on the terrace with local French families. On the plus side the service was very friendly and efficient from the young waiting staff, and the ambience was very pleasant. We thought the food was pretty good. We agree with a previous reviewer... read more

Enjoyed a reasonably priced nice evening meal here. The roaring log fire on a late September evening added to the ambiance. The food was excellent and the overall experience first class. With aperitif and wine the bill was a sensible €90.

My family and I recently visited as a surprise evening meal for my birthday as we live within reasonable driving distance of Cestayrols. We all chose to order individual items rather than opting for the set price "menu" options as we thought the dishes offered through the menus were fairly limited. The quality of the food was excellent if a... More

Cestayrols is a typical small, one-horse town set in beautiful countryside. We stayed nearby 2 years ago and visited 'Lou Cantoun' or its predecessor then. Since then it has been revamped, under new management and the transformation has been stunning. First we had a simple lunchtime set menu for two on a Saturday and then a return the following day... We had the set lunch menu which was very nice and a much better deal than the expensive a la carte and other fixed menu options. We sat on the terrace which really needs some tlc. The interior of the restaurant looks so lovely and it is a shame it isn't replicated outside. The service was fine.

Only stayed in the Tarn for 4 days and this restaurant was recommended in the Gites "book" and only 2 miles away so tried for lunch. No kerb appeal - but wow when you go in. We ate on the terrace - the set menu and a bottle of wine.Fantastic quality and value The wine was so nice we sort... More

We chose to go to this restaurant in the evening because we were staying locally and didn't want to travel too far. My main disappointment was that there was no choice on the menu (unless you paid a supplement). I also think the evening menu doesn't change too often so you wouldn't want to return too soon. The starter was... More

We have visited twice and had lovely meals both times . This is by far the best "quality " restaurant in the area however the menu which is limited didn't change between visits which were six months apart . I think seasonal food is very important and expected a restaurant of thus standard to change its menu

We were lucky enough to be recommended this lovely little restaurant in Cestayrols by 3 different locals on 3 separate occasions. We booked Sunday lunch and were reassured to see the cosy restaurant fill with local diners. We made our choices from the a la carte menu and chose a really good right bank Gaillac wine which was incredibly good... More

We spent 3 nights at a charming gite in Cestayriols and decided to book in for lunch on our last day. The lunch menu is an absolute steal at 18.50 EUR for 3 courses ( alc mains are nearer 30!) and i was very impressed with the selection of local wines on offer, many of which were under 25EUR a...
