I've known this place for 15 years but not been back since it changed hands. It remains a breathtaking setting and the unit has been redecorated, bathrooms updated and all in all as soon as you walk in its a lovely bright pretty setting. The welcome is charming and service through the meal was attentive and pleasant. The menu is... More

Having dined at Sumas a few times we've always regarded it as consistently good. However, last night's food was disappointing. We had different dishes and found they were both over seasoned as well as a few other components lacking taste. A real shame as the menu descriptions were enticing, but the food just didn't deliver as it has previously. Can't... More

Sumas never fails to impress, we had another lovely dinner here on their terrace (with a picture postcard view) in mid August. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff are very welcoming but not overbearing and most importantly the food is excellent. Worth every penny and we will be back next time we're on the island.

It's a small place but we had a table by the balcony. Quite a lot of fish on menu. We had the cheese soufflé and rib eye steak with ice cream to follow. A large choice of ice cream. The service was very quick. The food was good and well up to standard. Sumas is run by the son of... More

The menu was one of those where i could have had anything; we ended up sharing oysters (poached were delicious) and squid and then followed with a lobster salad. The portions weren't enormous - but that suited me, as I don't eat loads and want quality of ingredients. And the local ingredients were indeed quality. The service was direct but... More

Monday bank holiday, miserable weather, lunch at Sumas. A 25 minute wait before being attended to. Opted for 3 course set menu at 24. As title says, service has been better. Usually a lovely young lady, however today 3 men who found it difficult to smile. Was busier than I have experienced on my previous visits. I believe in value... More

The service is immaculate, the staff are very personable and friendly. The food itself was delicious and the wine also brilliant. A very perfect way to celebrate a romantic occasion.

My husband and two teenage children visited the restaurant for Sunday lunch. We were really anticipating what was recommended to usas one of Jersey's best restaurants, but felt slightly let down on reflection. Although my son and husband had excellent meals - well cooked beef with good Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes, as well as a creamy and sweet panna... More

Visited with my mother in law for a family treat. Starters were a delicious beef carpaccio, really flavoursome smoked haddock risotto and an innovative and well-received cheese soufflé with ground nuts. The fish mains were brill and sea bass, both much complimented. My lamb was beautifully cooked but lacked flavour. Desserts were delicious. We were intrigued by the stout sphere... More

Whilst staying in Jersey recently we booked for an evening meal at Sumas in Gorey. Obtaining a reservation is essential at this establishment. There was a fixed price menu as well as 'a la carte'. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The food was excellent as was the wine. This restaurant is pricey, but it is justified. The decor... More
