ordered a steak sandwich , came one hour later with no apology then had the pleasure of eating with about a hundred flys to with the waiter replied there's nothing I can do about that but he did take 50pence off my bill, he only charged me £12.50. Will not be eating here again!!!!

Well, I've heard folk say that time stands still in Shetland but you didn't actually wait an hour for your meal. It was half an hour, maximum. As to the flies, it's not often that we experience the downside of a spell of consistently warm and sunny summer weather. The flies are everywhere - not just in our hotel. What... More

Very Nice restaurant, great foods but not so nice sweets. High quality sea food, highly recommended. About the rooms, nice rooms with good and big beds but smell a little bit.

Thanks for your positive review. We're delighted you enjoyed your meal ( with the exception of dessert) and that you liked your room. However it would have been helpful if you'd alerted us to whatever smell it was you detected, at the time, so that we could have investigated it. More

After hearing on previous Shetland holidays about how good it was, we finally managed to eat here for lunch and were not disappointed. My partner started with local mussels - plump and delicious - in a Thai broth, a nice change from wine/cream sauces, and she said it was the best dish of mussels she's ever had. Her main was... More

This is a small restaurant but then Scalloway is a small town. The staff were friendly and found us a table. There wasn't a lot of space around it, or any other table, but it was comfortable and the waitress was efficient, the service prompt and the food good. If I was ever in Scalloway again I would certainly go... More

This was our third trip to the Shetlands, visiting grandchildren, and our second to the Scalloway, couldn't wait to get there. Good menu, very friendly and attentive staff, excellent meal, the three adults all had the Shetland lamb. No "kids" menu, just half portions, excellent, one fish, one chicken, two contented children. Food well, but not too fancily presented. Puddings... More

Still the best restaurant on Shetland. The lobster was exquisite and in our opinion good value. We chose by weight, simply grilled and expertly prepared. We savoured every mouthful. The ambience added to our experience and although the restaurant was busy, the service was attentive. We can't wait to go back on our next holiday.

Came with high expectations. Although we're regular visitors to Shetland we've never eaten here, reputed to be among the islands' best places. Service friendly, relaxed but competent. Promising menu; as expected plenty of fishy choice, starters and mains. Imaginative but not extreme. Both my wife and I had turbot as our main dish. Unfamiliar with the fish but to our... More

We did not stay at the Scalloway Hotel - we merely visited it to dine. First of all, it was a good 45 minutes after being seated before the starters arrived. When the main course finally arrived, were dismayed to discover that the so-called "shoulder of lamb" consisted of a single dubious-looking slice of lamb served with a couple of... More

I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your meal. The menu clearly stated “ braised spiced shoulder of lamb, potato cake, roasted aubergine and basil oil”, so I’m not sure why the ingredients of the dish that was served to you should have proved such a mystery. The way shoulder of lamb is prepared, as any butcher will tell you, is boned,rolled... More

We went to the Scalloway Hotel Restaurant (not to be confused with the Bar area in the Hotel that also serves food). The Restaurant and the Bar have different menu's. It's a fine dining restaurant serving fresh local food cooked to a high standard. The service from the friendly staff was excellent. Three course meal for two with drinks was... More
