Dinner with friend

My wife and I took a friend visiting Cairns for a farewell dinner. We had booked beforehand and asked for a table by the water. We were shown straight to a table overlooking the harbour, with marina on one side and boat ramp on the other. Lots to see with boats coming and going, and planes... read more

If you want a nice breakfast that doesn't cost an arm or leg the the deck at the Yorkeys Knob Boat Club is the place to visit while in Cairns. Watch the boats in marina or the outriggers training on the open waters Great for lunch and dinner 7 days a week but breakfasts on a Sunday morning are the... More

After steering clear of this place for a couple of years due to terrible service and below average meals we decided to go and give breakfast a try this morning after friends had told us how much it had improved. We waited 40 minutes for breakfast and after enquiring was told it would be a further 5 minutes. 15 minutes... More

I am a regular local here & have noticed the place (especially the restaurant) very dead every time I've been recently. On Sunday I overheard a conversation between a customer and the bar tender. She had apparently been refused a double gin and tonic by a very rude bar man the following week. This was not good to hear. Today... More

When we first arrived we waited to be seated for dinner and when someone finally acknowledged us their entire attitude screamed "go away you are an inconvenience to me" the second staff member who took our food order was slightly more helpful. The food was basically average bar food at above average prices. The only saving grace was the location... More

The outlook is lovely, but sadly that was all that the boat club had going for it when we dined there at lunch time today. We encountered 3 different staff whilst there - not one smile or pleasant remark from any of them. We had the whiting and calamari - both meals were extremely average. The salads accompanying them had... More

Upon arriving we were seated and given menus. We ordered drinks and recived them about 15mins later. After waiting another half an hour, with no service to the table an empty drinks we stopped a waiter. We were very dissapointed to find out a boat club had run out of oysters! So we ordered mains. Once they came out we... More

The situation is lovely, overlooking the Harbour, Breakwall and open Sea. The soaring, tented roof, over the Restaurant area promotes the Marine style ambience. Large Fans give additional coolth when the sea breezes are insufficient. It's just a cracking place to be - whether you are there for Drinks or a Meal - or both. We thoroughly enjoyed our Lunches,... We were booked as a group of 7 for dinner, but ended up being 8. It wasn't busy in the restaurant. We had gone to the bar to order drinks & 2 garlic breads had been ordered via the servery. The waiter who came to the table & took our order had a supervisor assisting him. (We were later told... More

Had dinner here with great friends and I could have stayed forever... Great food, friendly service, and a fabulous setting if you love boats. This is a must do again on my return
