Went here for The worst Sunday roast I've had in a while. In terms of service, the staff were rude and had a ridiculous policy of standing over you as you used the sauce and trying to hurry you so they could take it back when they know other people need to return to the table and you're yet to... Went here Saturday night and there was 14 of us however the manager went out of his way to accommodate us. The food was lovely and reasonably priced.

Food was reasonable but the policy of presenting the sauces and taking them away is moronic. They often turn up straight out of the fridge meaning they are a bit too cold, therefore cooling down your food and then when you inevitably run out having not taken enough either for the fear of appearing too greedy or not leaving enough... My husband and I often call in at the Church Mouse for a quick tea and we're never disappointed. Although they've changed the system to waitress service throughout, it doesn't appear to have significantly affected the efficiency. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming, even when not very busy (which is most evenings 9pm onwards). We never book and always... More

Had a wonderful dinner here while staying at the travelodge next door. The food is to die for and i would definitely think about coming back. The prices were extremely reasonable for what is over and above the usual pub grab. A meal for 2 including dessert with drinks came to under £30 which i thought was a bargain. The... More

Staying at the travel lodge next door for a family nostalgia trip we popped through the adjoining door to the pub. We visited at lunch time and dinner time, both were enjoyable with very friendly servers and bar staff. We also enjoyed a couple of pre dinner drinks in the comfortable bar area. Lovely to have such an ambient characterful... More

I was staying in the local Premier Inn and was looking for somewhere to eat and passed this en route on a day out. The inside is very comfortable with lots of different seating areas. The welcome was warm and genuine. The menu was varied with a good choice and the drinks were very reasonable. The food was excellent, hot,... More

I have visited the church mouse 3 times now hoping it will get better. It is always overly packed and they never seem to have anything in that you want- this has happened 3 times now! When I have opted for a meatball pie before it was disgustingly dry with barely any filling. The place its self looks lovely but... More

Busy relaxed surroundings. Excellently attentive staff. The food however....well what can I say. Vegetarian so ordered cauliflower cheese, mash & yorkshire puds. The stalks of the cauli were tough and the watery sauce most definitely had a flavour of fish. Disgusting..... but well done the waitresses.

We attended a party of 22 for a 80th birthday celebration. Nothing was too much bother. We re ordered drinks for our arrival and the staff kindly decorated the whole area and tables (we dropped them off earlier in day ) waitress was excellent , efficient friendly and patient. The food was beautiful and even though a large party we... More
