Top notch sunday lunch

Called on a busy sunday afternoon but got seated straight away and didn't wait to long for our meals considering how busy it was. I ordered the pork loin roast which came with honey glazed parsnips, seasonal vegetables and goosefat roast potatoes I have to say I enjoyed every mouthful. It did take... read more

Surroundings lovely, staff friendly. Food... Beautifully presented. We've had Sunday lunch here in the past and it was excellent. Our recent visit was on a Friday afternoon. Both chicken dishes were fine but we were offered an upgrade to chunky chips. The chunky chips looked suspiciously like the steak cut oven chips I buy in Tesco. Not homemade as I... More

My sister got pork cracklings off main menu..this did not look like homemade crackling and could barely get teeth through it. She got the chicken pizza that comes on pitta bread base. Result = chicken bone found in first mouthful, coleslaw served over the top of the pizza which she didn't like and overall bland but this was presented lovely.... More

Called in for lunch today, excellent service from start to finish. Great food, fab service, lovely helpful staff. Love the decor, we sat in two large vintage chairs...it was like sitting at home being waited on hand and foot. Nice change! We had a light lunch and a pudding for £2 very tasty jam sponge and custard, portion size was just... More

Came here with friends for a meal & catch up. Good setting & unusual. Great staff, friendly & attentive, good selection of drinks. Shame about the lack of quality of the "fish of the day" (pollack). Bland taste and watery. Definitely go back but definitely choose a different dish.

Charm and character by the bucket full, exposed beams and roaring open fires! A great place for food or just a drink. Visited several times and never disappointed. Good menu, fair prices and a well stocked bar. Food menu available online, including details of promotions.

Lovely setting and friendly staff. Food is good but not great. The desert menu lacks imagination. I had the fish and chips and the batter on the fish was soggy and the fish was watery. Staff acknowledged this but did nothing to rectify. Reasonably priced drinks and lovely interior

We call here from time to time, this occasion happened to be a Wednesday evening and pie night. The atmosphere in here is lovely, as are the staff and always seems to be busy. The beef and merlot pie I had was very tasty, just wasn't very hot, but will return again soon to try another pie.

Have been here several times and never had a bad meal. Great choice of food, well cooked, and a very reasonable price.

We'd heard positive comment for The Church Mouse and decided to try it for a late afternoon meal. We each had the very fair priced 3 course meal and both enjoyed our food - pub food, but fine. I had a wild boar and chorizo burger and my husband had a chicken/bacon/cheese pizzetta. I loved the cherry panacotta I had... More
