consistently good

This pleasant pub on the A167 heading into Durham City is always busy, but very welcoming. Typical 'Pub Grub' is served quickly by friendly and efficient staff in nicely decorated surroundings. On our occasional visits to the North East, this pub has never failed to meet our expectations.

The place has a nice atmosphere and friendly staff, and the bar had a good selection of drinks. We all went for the roast beef dinner which was lovely, the portion of meat was good as were the roasts and parsnips yet they were skimpy on the peas and carrots between two people, my only real complaint would be not... I visited this with family that have recently relocated to the area. We had pre-booked online and lucky we did as it was very busy when we arrived. I enjoyed the food, it was just good pub food. Everything arrived hot and none of us had any complaints. The reason I didn't give it a 5 was because our allocated... More

I am amazed that this place was full. The staff are excellent but the food served is very poor to say the least and is not worth £13 for a Sunday roast. That price included the extra £2 I had to pay for mashed potatoes. Two very thin slices of beef which were like rubber. Parsnips were dry and roast... More

Returned to the Church Mouse after living away for 3years, extremely disappointed with both service and food. We ordered a tear and share garlic bread after waiting 30mins it arrived and was still frozen in the middle! The waitress seemed unsurprised and rushed off into the kitchen without asking if we wanted to wait for another to be cooked, try... More

The Church Mouse is a Vintage Inn chain restaurant which I also find to a very high standard. The food at the restaurant is excellent and the staff are very friendly. I have visited the Church Mouse on numerous occasions now over the past 6 month and the standard of food is always consistently high.

Food was very nice and everything about the place is nice , but it takes a life time to get served, also if you come early evening like we did they have ran out of some veg . took 25 minutes for the kids puddings asked 3 times and once we complained it came half melted .

This is a lovely pub with a great atmosphere and good food. The staff are very welcoming and the service is friend,y and efficient. Although it is a chain, the food is still consistently good. The pies are always delicious. There is a good selection of wine at reasonable prices.

we visited this pub for a evening meal, myself and my, wife just hard a main course each, the meals themselves were well presented, and well cooked, atmosphere very relaxed, experience overall pretty good. however on presenting us with our bill, mysteriously found drinks added to it what we had not even had. the waitress Sarah, apologised, and amended bill.... When we ate here recently, we were bowled over by the level of customer service demonstrated by the staff, friendly, competent and attentive. My husband was in a full length leg cast and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, the bartender suggested I return to the table to be with my husband and drinks would be brought to us... More
