friday night out

,Four of us visited here, ordered a bottle of wine, shandy and a pint of john smiths. For starters two of us had battered mushrooms which were nice, but there was only five mushrooms lying on a lettuce leaf, with a garlic dip, not much imagination used, would of been much better if we had a couple... read more

We used to visit the church mouse all the time until they changed the menu/chef. We stopped going because we were disappointed then, over a year later later we were persuaded by some friends to return for a Saturday night meal last night. Firstly, we asked what the soup was for the starter, the waiter said it was creamy vegetable,... More

Visited on a Thursday teatime. The staff were nice, pleasant and friendly but the service was really slow!! 2 hrs for a family of 6 to complete their meal. We had to remind them about a drink order. We won't be back!

Decided to eat here for lunch, when we saw the place in passing, as we have enjoyed dining at vintage inns before. Pleasant surroundings and a nice log fire burning when we turned up in the pouring rain, which was very welcome. The food was enjoyable, but we had a few niggles like the lumpy gravy, the white roll arriving... More

We come here often and are very rarely disappointed. The food is good, the ambience is relaxed and the staff friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. I am a vegetarian and love the Feta and Broad Bean Burger which the chef very graciously 'deconstructs' for me every time I ask. We use this place as a regular weekend... More

I recently visited this establishment for the first time with my two daughters, I was pleasantly surprised at the rustic feel, lovely log fires, warm and cosy atmosphere. I had the rump steak and chips, onion rings in lovely batter, mushroom and tomato, my daughters had salads, one had salmon and the other had char grilled chicken, they were beautifully... More

`Had lunch here last Wednesday with 2 mates.I had a bacon & brie sandwich with chips that was barely warm .My friend had a fish finger dish that again was only luke warm. My other friend had a bowl of soup that was only a third full and therefore well overpriced for what was served. Still, the tables are discreetly... More

The first time we visited here was before we had our children. It has been on our list of places to go back to for a while. My six year old son summed it up perfectly when he said "I think the Church Mouse has done my tea excellently" and they had! All of our meals were beautifully presented ample... More

Went to the church mouse today food was lovely had Eccles pie, fab focccia garlic bread and chocolate brownie. Desserts were a little on the small side. Other half had belly pork again very good. It gets a bit stuffy in there was thinking because of the coal fire some of us were uncomfortably hot. Good service, bit dearer than... More
