We had such a relaxing lunch here on a beautiful day in September. The sandwiches and salad were delicious and fresh. ( they make it to order) it is self service but very easy . There are nearby tables by the river with umbrellas to give you shade if needed. Would highly recommend for a casual lunch.

Lovely traditional bistro with very friendly staff and gite/apartments at only 80 euros/night. Excellent cuisine at very reasonable prices, and full most evenings with French- a good sign. Over a long weekend we worked our way through the menu with no disappointments. Splendid cave to pick your wine including good selection of Loire, particularly local Cheveny. Excellent location for chateaux... More

Lunch is a real treat at this self service restaurant in a delightful village where Renoir painted. Tasty salad bowls and quiche, with a good range of drinks served up by a charming team of young women. Meals are eaten at picnic tables next to the river or on blankets in the grass provided by the cafe. An experience not... More

This place is in a beautiful setting - it almost looks like a french movie and the name "le dejeuner sur l'herbe" is the best name they could possibly pick. That being said, the food could be better. I ordered a tartine chaud, and it was just a thick loaf of bread, toasted quite hard so I could barely eat... More

I came here often for my tarte au noix (Walnut Tart) a local delicacy with my coffee. Some times I swam in the Vezere River. The heart beat of this lovely friendly village. But I like the two lovely cats that lived at the cafe one was a fluffy black cat and the other was tortoiseshell kitty. They were both sweaty... More

Awesome location by the river in an extremely pretty village. Rugs are provided to sit on the grass (if you can prize them away from the cat) or, if you prefer, there are tables under umbrellas. Great picnic foods - platters of charcuterie or fromage, salads, fruit salads, cakes. Artisan beer, wine and all the other usual suspects. Best appreciated... More

On our way to La Roque Saint-Christophe from Lascaux, we were overcome by lunchtime hunger. We stopped in St. Leon sur Vezere and walked the main street looking at the menus of the two or three cafes there. Nothing had a strong appeal. My sister saw a small sign and wandered down a residential street. When we got to the... More

Lovely relaxed lunch by the river side. A good variety of tasty salads and cakes, served all day (it can be hard to find a meal outside proper meal times in France!). Beautiful setting.

A nice stop for a light lunch along the river. There is no table service. One goes to the counter and gives an order. Then it is brought to you outside. The sandwiches and salads are tasty. There is a pastoral feeling to the place. The village is lovely too.

This is a small shop that offers basic food and beverages with outdoor tables, including picnic tables directly by the river. We took a break here after a canoe trip down river from Montignac. Being wet and not fit for dinner, we found this setting to be a great late afternoon place for the kids to have a Hot Chocolate... More
