We stumbled across this gem whilst staying nearby. Rather than a local pub/restaurant this is a notch above. The food was outstanding and the service was good too. I can see that some might find it a little pretentious, but we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, in fact it was the highlight of our weekend away.

We stayed here as we were at a wedding in nearby River Cottage. Although we didn't use our room much, we were impressed. It was spacious and clean with fresh, white linen, lovely toiletries and homemade cookies! The cooked breakfast the next day was really tasty. Sadly, we didn't have time for dinner but if it's anything like the breakfast,... More

We booked a table at the Tytherleigh arms to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were hoping for a special evening of fine dining and we weren't disappointed. The staff were friendly and professional, the table service was efficient and we didn't have to wait long for our courses to arrive. The food was top quality and cooked superbly. We would... More

My wife and I stayed there for a few days earlier this week and we were not disappointed. The hotel is on the border of North Devon and Somerset and we really enjoyed our stay and our room was very spacious and clean. The hotel is lovely and cosy with the quality of food exceptional and the waiting staff were... More

We stopped, on our way home, not having booked a table and were delighted when they could accommodate us. James had St Oswald leek and sweet potato cheesecake topped with fill pastry and endive salad and I had Grilled skate wing, crispy squid, herb and horseradish potato cake, rocket and garlic butter. Mouth-wateringly fabulous. I absolutely love skate wing and... More

En route to Devon on Easter weekend (and because my friend had not been in the pub for 60 years....!), we called in on spec for a quick lunch. Charming, friendly staff dealt with us efficiently and quickly despite the restaurant being very busy and still full (we turned up at 2pm). We both had starters - I the tomato... More

We had a great evening at the Tytherleigh Arms on Easter Sunday. Visiting relatives for the weekend, we were delighted to visit for an evening. The service was the real gem; personal, personable and attentive. Both of our starters and mains were delicious and the range of drinks was very good. We're certainly looking forward to returning and would recommend... More

We stayed in the rooms at Tytherleigh Arms for two nights recently as we were visiting the River Cottage Cookery School. We had dinner on Friday evening which was excellent, the staff were lovely and the service excellent. Great menu, very difficult to choose a dish. I chose the sirloin steak which although asking for medium cooked, came slightly more... More

Was on a trip to Axminster and was taken here for lunch. I had a Tuna sandwich that was perfect. The bread was soft and delicious and came with a side salad. The coffee was nice and for a change was, unlike a lot I have had recently, was hot. I sat next to the large and inviting open fire... More
