'Our 16th Century Coaching Inn commands an enviable position, conveniently situated on the main A35 where Devon & Dorset meet, between the bustling market town of Axminster, and the beautiful seaside town of Lyme Regis, the gateway to the Jurassic Coast.Neville & I along with our fantastic team, have worked very hard over the past 12 years to ensure that everyone who passes through our door can enjoy a fabulous range of home cooked traditional Pub Fayre - from sandwiches & light lunches through to super steaks sourced locally by our Butcher Duncan, from Honiton,& fresh fish from West Bay, Portland and Brixham. Come and enjoy a meal with us in clean, warm & comfortable surroundings. We offer an extensive menu with something for everyone, along with daily homemade specials and fabulous fresh homemade desserts. We have 3 separate dining areas and can cater for a total of 80 persons, or functions of up to 40 in our restaurant. We are proud of our 5 star food hygiene rating from East Devon District Council and also of our Tripadvisor reviews and seal of excellence for 2013 & 2014.We have extensive parking, are doggie friendly, and have large gardens & play area - families are most welcome. We are sure you will enjoy your visit to The Hunters Lodge and very much look forward to welcoming you!

We were on our way back to Sussex after visiting the Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth. We were desperately looking for a pub to have a nice meal which 'drew you in'. Most we passed coming away from Sidmouth looked tired and uninviting but as soon as we caught sight of The Hunters Lodge Inn we turned into the car park.... More

We stopped here for lunch whilst on holiday in the area having driven past it a few times and noticed that the car park was always busy. They allow dogs in the bar area and lounge which was great as we had our two border terriers with us. They have an extensive food menu from sandwiches to steaks and fresh... More

Thank you for your review, it is much appreciated. We are a family run pub, with a relatively small kitchen compared to our vast service areas - my husband, along with his small team, make almost everything from scratch that is served from our kitchen, but we do buy our onion rings as, at present, we could simply not keep... Good food, dog friendly section. Plenty of parking, friendly service, clean and welcoming. Book to avoid disappointment, I made this error once! Menu caters for simple tasres or slightly more exotic palates.

My partner and I often walk to here from Axminster and its a great little stop before walking back. The drinks are over priced £6.50 for a small coke and a pint. The restaurant is a bit all over the place but in the summer it is lovely to sit in the back garden which has a (dated) play area.... More

Thank you for taking the time to review, your feedback is much appreciated. We are (unfortunately) a tied house, but we try to keep our prices in line with local tied houses such as ourselves, and are, in fact cheaper than some of the free houses found locally. The price of the most expensive beer is £3.95, and a small... More

Popped in on the off - chance of a table after returning home too late to want to cook. Ended up at a lovely table at the end of the bar which while busy was still sufficiently spaced to afford privacy. Food was freshly prepared very filling and excellent value for money. Has a good range of ales and cider... More

My husband and I visited the Hunters Lodge on Sunday 1st February and had the best roast dinner we've had in a long long time, everything was piping hot, very tasty and there was plenty of it, the staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, in fact they were even happy to be there, which is... I've driven past this place many times, but never stopped - until today. If you're looking for a welcoming pub/restaurant for a decent lunch, this takes some beating. The staff are helpful and the food is great (big portions for those with hollow legs). The menu caters for all tastes with a good mix of pub standards (ham egg and... More

Really enjoyed the food - the menu looks boring but is extremely well cooked. We were able to join a local quiz and had a really wonderful evening. Highly recommended.
