'Our 16th Century Coaching Inn commands an enviable position, conveniently situated on the main A35 where Devon & Dorset meet, between the bustling market town of Axminster, and the beautiful seaside town of Lyme Regis, the gateway to the Jurassic Coast.Neville & I along with our fantastic team, have worked very hard over the past 12 years to ensure that everyone who passes through our door can enjoy a fabulous range of home cooked traditional Pub Fayre - from sandwiches & light lunches through to super steaks sourced locally by our Butcher Duncan, from Honiton,& fresh fish from West Bay, Portland and Brixham. Come and enjoy a meal with us in clean, warm & comfortable surroundings. Unexpectedly good and dog friendly

A very popular 16th century coaching inn, with a large varied menu, plus a Specials board. Dogs were welcome in the bar and there is WiFi. Nice, well kept garden and patio where you can eat and small children can play on garden activities. Excellent lamb shank, well cooked hake and I had a... read more

Stopped at the Hunters Lodge when en route to Plymouth after a long drive. Just wanted a quick snack and drink, but what we got was far better. The choice of food was excellent and the service wonderful. Although busy we did not have to wait too long before getting our extremely filling and sumptuous food. Will definitely be calling... Good location when visiting Axminster tool centre. Good big car park. Excellent waitress service. Good choice of menu and just our type of satisfying pub food. Need to book as very popular. The scampi was the better quality type. Salad fresh and chips good. Thanks for good pub meal while on our visit to Prestoller House bed and breakfast.

Stopped off during a car journey, we were met by a friendly member of staff on a busy Saturday lunchtime. We were told there was a short wait for food. Menu and specials were interesting. Our food arrived quickly. Great salad with lots of interesting little additions. Reasonable price, great service.

Booked at the Hunters Lodge on a recommendation from the owner of our accommodation and we certainly weren't disappointed. Even though there was a large party seated just after us this didn't interfere in any way with the quality of food and speed of service. My husband's steak was cooked perfectly, my lamb shanks were perfect and the herby mash... More
