It was our first visit to hunters lodge tonight, after a lovely afternoon at Lyme. We were told there would be a SHORT wait for food, we waited an hour and 15 minutes until our food came out, (it wasn't even that busy!) food was average nothing special definitely not worth the price you pay for it!!! The food was so slow in being served. Then even when the food was served it wasn't that good! The pub lacked any atmosphere! No one seems to be having fun in particular the staff weren't overly friendly or happy. Nice decor but lacking in every other department. The food just took too long we were told to expect a... On the way back from a day at corfe castle just before 9pm and came across this place. Have to compliment the professionalism politeness and the kindness of letting us order so near to time. The food was excellent and plenty. Decor a little dated but hey great food

We arrived for evening opening (6pm) they were fully booked but said if we ordered straight away they could squeeze us in. We planned to sit outside in the garden area anyway so we promptly ordered the Louisiana and the Blue Burger. Both were fab with great quality meat and generous portions.

After about an hours drive looking for food, we came across the lovely 'The Hunters Lodge' which we turned up at ten to 9... We asked politely if they still served food and they kindly said yes! After making our way through the well proportioned and delicious main meals we attacked dessert, which was equally as nice! Would strongly recommend... More

Fantastic food brilliant service, very helpful. We went to Axminster for a two night break and ate here both nights. The steak was brilliantly cooked and the mashed potato is the best I've ever had. We both were very impressed with the friendly staff and the standard of service.

Thank you for taking the time to review - we do appreciate all feedback, it would be helpful to us if you could let us know the dishes you chose so we could address the portion issues you raise.
