The Boatyard, Leigh-On-Sea The Boatyard combines the benefits of a modern purpose-built restaurant with the classic surroundings of the Old Leigh fishing village, not to mention the excellent food. Contained within what was previously a working boatyard, the building has been converted into a modern restaurant, fully air-conditioned with a state of the art music system, digital projection screen and a glass-fronted kitchen area . A panoramic polarised glass frontage provides uninterrupted views of the Thames Estuary and Two-Tree Island Nature Reserve. Even more spectacular views can be obtained from the stunning wooden deck which juts out into the water and spans the entire width of the building.

Why Just Average

I have eaten at the Boatyard half a dozen times. They fail in the one thing which is important in dinning at this level and price point, consistent quality, the food is generally good, had the odd dodgy dish. The service is pretty good most of the time, but at these prices most of the time... read more

Staff very attentive, efficient and smiley, was impressed that our waitress remembered us from probably a year ago if not two ( very impressive). Food was absolutely faultless, maybe a little pricey, but I think you get what you pay for and I enjoyed every bit of my lunch. I will definitely return and this time not leave it so... More

On arrival the staff were curteous and pleasant. The food was certainly of a good standard and the service was equally as good. We had three courses all of which were served in a style you'd expect from a leading establishment in old Leigh. We had no cause for complaint and will certainly dine here again.

I came up here bank holiday Monday with my mum for a spot of lunch. The food was excellent although a little pricey, 2 smoked salmon baguettes, 1 portion of chips and 2 teas came to around £25. The view is awesome if you're sitting on the deck.

I went to The Boatyard Restaurant for lunch and was very impressed with the quality of the food, the presentation and the attentiveness of the staff. I had the set menu and was pleasantly surprised. It is in a great location in Old Leigh, with a view out to sea.

I'd heard good reports about The Boatyard but I have to say I was disappointed when we went. The menu is safe ie nothing new or different. Service is ok but as its a large, busy restaurant, they seemed a bit rushed and tetchy. Its in a great location and the views are good (when the tide is in). Overall... More

Whilst we appreciate your comments we are rather mystified as to why now, after almost one year following your visit, you have only just posted a report on Tripadvisor. We constantly strive to improve all areas of the restaurant and at the least you comments are rather out of date. Kind regards Cllare Carey Restaurant Manager More

Visited on Saturday 16th May 2015. Lovely sunny day so sat outside. Only one waiter on deck & he told us to sit where we liked. That waiter was dealing with the other side of the deck and we eventually got asked for our order after a 20 minute wait (the bar man came out & done it). Waited another... More

Thank you for your feedback, we are sincerely disappointed you experienced less than excellent service when you visited us last weekend. We appreciate your comments, unfortunately due to a waiter being taken ill at the last minute we were short staffed. I can only apologise your orders took longer than usual to arrive however I am pleased to learn that... More

Having found the boatyard a bit hit and miss over the years food wise (but always a great venue) we were not expecting too much other than a decent lunch and a nice venue and view. Have to say our meal was faultless. Not the best meal I've ever had in my life but it was just very nice and... More
