Just had one of the best Sunday lunches I have ever had and believe me I have had a few. Mu husband and I had the 3 course meal. Both had mackerel for starters and it was perfectly cooked with a very nice tangy fruit coleslaw and salad. I had the Roast beef which just melted in your mouth and... More

We visited on the Sunday before recent bank holiday. Things didn't start well as the reservation that we made 5 days previously wasn't recorded. Because we were very early a great table with a seaview was found, thankfully. The decor and ambiance was much improved since a visit last year. Sunday roast was very nice, although we slightly resented a... More

What a real hidden gem in the north east coast, After some friends raved about this pub after their visit earlier in Aug 2013 we had felt we had to make a trip to it and find out for ourselves and wow what a great choice that was.. We arrived on a busy evening without pre booking to be greeted... More

We have been going to the Jolly Fisherman for years, enjoying the views, beer and the crab sandwiches. Even back to the old days when the carpet was a fab design and the windows allowed the North East wind to blow right in. We visited on Tuedsay lunch time, the pub was busy but not packed out. It took ages... More

The famed crab sandwiches were ok, but at the price £7.95 so they should be. Was busy, mid week lunchtime, we were 'pressurised' by some other diners to vacate our table, as they were local and wanted to eat. They were very unpleasant, hovering over us, not quite sitting on our laps but not far from it.... Not made to... More

Went to The Jolly Fisherman again for Sunday lunch and it was simply amazing, the chicken was juicy and tasty and the Yorkshires huge!! Clearly a homemade dinner! Sat in the window and had a beautiful view to enjoy our dinner...perfect and highly recommended! Spoke to the owner who came over after dinner to ask if everything was okay (which... More

We had, as many gone before us and many to come, arrived to experience a crab sandwich (even though admittedly we're not seafood mad). We found a table right away in the garden (it was a pleasant day) although our choice was to be in the shade which was underneath the upstairs. This was ok except there was debris fallng... More

The food is excellent, seriously, I couldn't fault it. The crab sandwiches are lovely, lots of crab, the chips my parents ordered were gorgeous - tasted like they'd been fried in goose fat :)) The toasted cheese and ham sandwich also looked tantalising. The views from the tables on the upper floor & out on the balcony are to die... More

Busy pub but managed to find a table for two for lunch. Good choice of beers, and delicious crab meat. We had the sandwiches and the fish platter, giving a great variety of lovely fresh fish. Double chocolate cheesecake was a decadent finale. We hope to return.

We ate here for the first time in April this year and had a great meal. On returning to the area I booked in advance to eat on tues 27th August. From being shown to our table with great sea views to leaving the service from bar and waiting staff could not have been better or friendlier. The crab soup... More
