Pleasant lunch and evening meal

Nicely situated with a good sea view from the terrace or garden. First experience was for lunch, beware the place gets very bust and waiting for bar service can take an age. Crab sandwiches and homemade chips to die for. Evening meal very good with a seat on the terrace floor. Fish beautifully... read more

We were disappointed for many reasons at the Jolly Fishermen, we didn't feel welcome, had to keep asking for cutlery, the food was ok but nothing special, and had to wait ages between courses

We called in for a drink and possibly lunch. We had to wait several minutes to be served, even though there weren't many people ahead of us. The sandwiches arrived very quickly, were tasty and well presented. None of the staff made an effort to be welcoming and seemed indifferent to the customers. We didn't see a single smile from... We called in here for a late lunch on a very warm sunny day. The beer garden is fantastic with lovely views and so given the weather , it was perfect. My husband enjoyed his fish cakes with chips whist I tried their famous crab sandwiches. Both meals were presented brilliantly and were absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful-... Its the iconic characterful harbour pub. The scent from the kipper smoking across the street sets the diner salivating before he gets inside. If the pub had any more character you would need a passport to get in. In fact there were a couple or three characters at the bar that might well be of interest to the Customs and... More

We mainly stopped here as the view from the garden is excellent - straight out to sea and good for bird watching. We only had a pint and crisps but that was well kept and there was a special baby changing room so bonus points from us 😉

This was just kinda weird. Remember this is the pub of the year 2015 so you expect a certain standard, right? So, we arrived just after 7pm and snagged a table on the terrace (the terrace is good). Went inside to order some drinks and pick up a menu. Warning: the food on the big blackboard is only for lunchtime.... More

We called in on a sunny Saturday lunch time hoping for a spot of lunch in the sun and to enjoy the great views. Everyone else had the same idea. The queue at the bar was 4 rows deep. I managed to get a table on the lovely terrace while my husband stood in the queue for the drinks. Then... More

Went with friends whilst on holiday locally. This place is amazing - wonderful views from the upstairs dining room and fantastic food. The crab soup is absolutely delicious, the fish dishes are beautiful and the venison was cooked (i.e. hardly at all) to perfection. The staff were brilliant, attentive and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Brilliant night had... More

This pub has been updated in recent years. It now offers imaginative pub food well presented..... with a great ocean view. If you like crab.... the soup is to die for
