We found the service to be quite accommodating to two persons from the USA who were unfamiliar with some items on the menu. We liked it so well one night, we returned again. It was very close to The Hotel where we were staying. The had a lot of choices from lighter menus to when you were very hungry. Our... More

The Trappist benefits from not being a tourist restaurant, from great traditional Belgian food, and a great selection of Belgian beers. My wife and I ate there twice during our week in Bruxelles: Enjoying Moules-frites, Entrecote-frites (with mushroom sauce), and lamb with mashed potatoes and haricots verts) and gaufres with chocolate sauce for dessert, not to mention great Belgian beer.... Even if it's in a highly commercial area the restaurant seems as if it's coming out from another era. The clientele looks very local, and that is certainly a good sign. The menu offers traditional recepies and on the board are offered the daily specials. The sitting arrangement is a bit overcrowded, but if you do not go in peak... More

Few years ago I did note the impoliteness of waiters....I have them a chance yesterday and...they did confirm they behaviour, therefore: never again!Their arrogance is probably due to the fact that many tourists stop by, therefore they are not really interested in returning customers. In any case, they need good manners training!

Had fried red mullet. Really creamy and tender. The waiter served me was nice : ) I asked the staff in the hotel I stayed for recommendations for local food and she suggested this restaurant. It was quite local. Atmosphere definitely didn't feel like tourist-y.

I went for a "steak tartare" (ask to prepare it yourself) with french fries in this typical old fashioned Brussels style brasserie. Older waiters (not always 100% attentive ;-)), but a good meal. Café Liegeois for desert (yummie !) . Avoid the house red as it is not the best quality ...

Daniel, our waiter, did an exceptional job in making recommendations for our dinner. We had the chicken with tarragon, and cod. Both were terrific. We made reservations for the next night while still finishing our meal. Great food, great service, and great experience

Bistro restaurant, extensive menu, well prepared Belgian cuisine. Fabulous beer choices. Taken there by a Belgian friend for the authenticity of the Belgian food. Would be happy to visit again.

A great, traditional Belgian brasserie serving good food and traditional beers. Highly recommend the prawn starters and the Jambonneau.
