We had lunch in this pub on the Saturday of the Scarecrow Festival. We sat indoors as there was no room outside. The service was a little slow however, we understood this as there were a lot of people ordering food. When the food came it was lovely. There were 6 in our party and 4 of us had the... More

Went for Sunday lunch and enjoyed good food, excellent service and all at a decent price. Marring the entire experience was the huge number of flies in the place - having to chase flies from your food (indoors) every 30 seconds or so is unpleasant and destroys any chance of enjoying a relaxing meal. For a local pub with a... More

So many pubs try to be sOmething to everyone and end up being nothing for no one. However the plough manages to carry it off. Great for kids but equally good for a quiet drink in a snug. Food isn't high cuisine but you won't leave hungry and it is perfectly tasty. Excellent selection of drinks in the bar. Unpretentious... More

Just stopped by the plough as we were fishing across the road. All we had were 3 coke's and 2 portions of chips but the chip's were homemade and delicious. Staff friendly and very welcoming. Would of liked to of stayed longer.

This is a great find. I have lived in the Vale and this is one of the best country pubs around. This is a proper country pub and has not been homogenised so that it retains some character which adds to the atmosphere. A really friendly welcome - we were made to feel completely at home. Delicious food and the... More

We popped in with no expectations, just hungry when we made our discovery. Staff were friendly and welcoming and immediately felt at home in the pub and restaurant. Menu was varied but suited to all tastes. When our orders arrived, the food appeared beautifully home cooked and tasty. All the staff were fun and friendly which is rare sadly now,... More

Called in for Sunday Lunch and were delighted to find good service, fantastic food and great atmosphere. The Landlord, Bob and his team were excellent; and a Landlord who goes above and beyond the call of duty by personally making sure that inconsiderate owners dog mess is regularly cleared up - is dedicated indeed. Thoroughly recommended.

Relaxed atmosphere, lovely setting, took a nice walk along the canal with the dog before sitting in the garden where dogs and families are very welcome, food is happily bought outside. It was Mothers day so it was very very busy however service was still impeccable.
