Maximilian's is a real treat

Just a short drive from the city and not far off the Freeway, this Restaurant and Cellar Door is one of the Adelaide Hills real gems. A really nice location with a lovely outlook. The service, food and wine were great.

Have been here on a couple of occasions for a meal. The food is fantastic, altho' not a huge range of choices available & the menu is on the higher price side of the ledger. Good selection of wines & the service was very good with attentive & knowledgeable staff. Great rural vineyard setting with lovely views just near Verdun,... More

To the team at Maximilian's, My fiance Rosanna and I wanted to say a big thank you for our beautiful lunch as we celebrated just getting engaged on Saturday. The food was amazing as always and the service was fantastic. I would also like to make a special mention for our waiter, Luke. He made us feel right at home... More

This is a great place in the Adelaide Hills to wine and dine. A mixture of the old heritage house and the modern outdoor entertaining area. The food is of a high quality. For something different you can have a try with the the golf club to land the ball on te little island in the dam, a lot of... More

In absolute disbelief over how poorly this place functions. First we stood around for five minutes at the door waiting to be greeted where we could see the bookings list and menu, staff walked straight by us numerous times, nothing, no hello or we will be with you in a minute, nothing. We then walked around to the bar, heaps... More

Lunch at Max's today. First visit, though we've lived in the hills for a while. Used to Sunday at Echunga pub, but it's changed hands, now it's just a pub again. So we went a bit further afield to Verdun. When I pay for lunch, I expect the chef to do a better job than what I can do. Fancy... More

Lovely hills setting in an old bungalow house which makes you feel as though you might be visiting friends more than attending a restaurant. The food is first class as is the selection of wines on the wine list. Plenty of seating inside or out - even some beanbags out on the lawn overlooking the valley and dam for those... More

We had a lovely degustation lunch. The food was tasty and presented well On the plate. Each dish was explained throughout the courses and service was good. Very quiet but that added to a personal dining experience. Lovely view over the golfing lake as well as we ate. Happy to go back again but maybe for dinner to enjoy a... More

Took my husband to Maximillian's Restaurant for his birthday lunch - we live quite close and hadn't been for years. We chose the Chateabriand for Two and it was beautifully cooked and honestly one of the best pieces of beef we have had for a while. Wine recommended was perfect for the meal. We had a verandah table overlooking the... More

Our third time at Maximiian's last Friday night to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. We both started with a glass of champagne while perusing the menu. We decided to have the Shared Tasting Menu which was like a smaller Degustation dinner. Each course was delicious and presentation was magnificent. My favourite was definitely the pork belly. The staff were very friendly,... More
