Gorgeous food, great setting

We eat here on New Years Day & had a fabulous 6 course meal. Every course tasted as great as the last. Everything is made with care & passion. Madame Milan is front of house & very friendly, helping us with the menu (as my French is awful) & Monsieur Milan is the chef, they make a great team... read more

This little patch of France isn't blessed with much culinary choice, and La Quincaillerie offers some fine dining relief from the endless offerings of duck magret and fried potatoes in the area. The restaurant is found in the middle of sleepy Montendre, a town forgotten a century ago. It is run by a lovely couple, with Madame at front of... More

2nd visit here. we are vegetarians and have been here with non vegetarians. not only is the food extraordinarily "clean" but it is imaginative and the attention to detail is excellent as are the little extras - the gourmandises that make it special. the chef's wife is almost vegetarian and one of the chef's best friends is vegan, so -... We had heard many recommendations whilst staying in Chatenet at the brilliant Chez Frankie gite. On arrival for lunch we were shown upstairs to a table in the galleried old hardware store and the menu was described to us by a friendly and personable waiter. We watched the chef and his team prepare the 3 course meal, which was cooked... More

Menu was very limited but all of it was amazing! My wife and I can only speak very limited pigeon French so difficult to communicate but it was very friendly.... Would go back without a doubt as we were told the menu changes daily.

Dog, Best Friend and I visited Montendre during a week's Summer??? trip to Bordeaux. The restaurant we had wanted to try was only open on Saturday and Tuesday evening market night. We were instead directed to La Quincaillerie..the other options were Pizza or Crepes. We were asked whether we had a reservation, we were the only people there, until 4... More

We had lunch at this wonderful restaurant which is worth a detour if you are visiting this region of France. Great atmosphere in a renovated 19th century hardware store. The menu is very limited but everything our group had was delicious – the risotto and the salmon with lentils were outstanding. We considered the meal a very good value for... More

Excellent food and friendly personel. The chef is really innovative and almost every dish taste really good. Only one menu to choose from but the menu is changed every week. The personel does not speak that much english but they try. The place itself is very nice.
