Authentic Texas Style BBQ in the Antelope Valley

Whenever we are headed down Highway 395 from Gardnerville to the Eastern Sierra, we always plan our trip to stop here. Proprietor Jeff Hinds learned Texas BBQ techniques in Houston, and his menu has a distinctive East Texas style augmented with almond wood. Our favorite menu items: Brisket (true... read more

Stopped in on our drive from Fallon NV to San Diego area. IT was in the middle of nowhere and we were hungry so we decided to give it a try. The Texas fries were probably the tastiest thing I have ever eaten, and the pulled pork sandwich and coleslaw were delicious.

Succulent, smoked meat practically in the middle of nowhere! Love it! Ordered the BBQ pulled pork sandwich with fries. The sandwich had a generous portion of meat which was tender, juicy and lean (hate pulling fatty/gristly pieces of meat off a sandwich). The fries were also generously portioned and arrived hot and crisp. The owner was friendly, laid back yet... More

We were driving through Walker from Yosemite to Reno when we passed this interesting looking restaurant with a oil drum barbeque and picnic tables out front. I love barbeque and eating outdoors so we turned around and came back. We ordered pulled pork sandwiches with hand cut French fries and brewed iced tea. It was simple food and delicious. I... More

My wife and stop here each year we make the drive between Norther California and Las Vegas even if it means going out of our way to get here. The smoker out front will beckons you to stop. Here they smoke briskets, pork, sausages and ribs. All done slowly and lovingly. The owners can help you with ideas on what... More

My wife and I stopped for a quick lunch as we drove up the scenic US 395 nestled in the mountains beside the Walker River. The restaurant is very quaint and rustic with a casual dining room with several tables inside and more casual seating outside on the porch and several picnic tables out in front. The food is made... Oh so sorry we ate there! And we read the rave reviews mixed in with the 1 star reviews, so we are confused about this place. Do they have different cooks on different days? We did not like most of what we ordered! We had the baby backs which tasted blah and under cooked, the coleslaw which had an odd... More

By the reviews here , seems like everyone else liked it. I have rated this as poor, but maybe they were just having a bad day. My wife and I had the pulled pork sandwich which was kind of pricey. If it was good, we wouldn't have minded, but that was not the case. Chewy and full of gristle, as... More

Lucky for us we were hungry when this place showed up on Rt 395! Casual, laid back and very welcoming. The food was excellent. We had pulled pork and the chicken sandwich. Take a walk around and check out the art works!

Driving the Sonora Pass today going through Walker and needing to have lunch I saw Mtn View BBQ. The owner was very nice & the food was great. Being from the South I've had plenty of BBQ and this was excellent. Very tasty, generous portion and wonderful November afternoon meal at the outdoor table with just the right portion of... More
