Gave Battlesteads a try mainly based on positive trip advisor comments. Generally we were very happy, the service was friendly and prompt plus the overall value for either two or three courses was fair. (If I remember correctly £14.50 or £16.50 respectively). Standard roast offerings for the main course, plus a fish and chips or veggie option - help yourself... More

It is always a good idea to book early in the day for a carvery where ever you are. here there is another incentive - to get a table in the conservatory with its underfloor heating and view of the walled garden. Serving begins from 12.00 on a Sunday and a lot of local people come. The food is excellent,... More

Went here and had an excellent 3 course lunch. The roast beef was some of the best I have tasted succulent and tender. Great range of help yourself veg too. Highly recommended.

Set off for a evening meal with family and our first choice restaurant was closed. We were disappointed at first until we chose the Battlestead in Wark. Not knowing what to expect we left very happy. Great ale, good service, fantastic food and excellent deserts. Very clean and looked after our young daughter.

Whether it's a special, 'seniors' menu' or Sunday Lunch, it will always please the palate. We went for lunch, today and on Sundays, there is a carvery option. Not being a fan of buffets, I planned to order from the a la carte. However, the innovative choice of two types of roast beef,, rare or well-done, swayed me. What a... More

Family on holiday in Keilder and determined not to com all week so it was a challenge to find somewhere which would suit a range of treated each evening! We enjoyed a very nice meal at Battlesteads, very relaxed atmosphere. Second time we've visited and haven't been disappointed. Choice of food was very good, locally sourced and prepared where possible.

I visit a The Battlesteads a couple of times a year on visits back to NE England, and I have yet to be disappointed. On this visit I had Louisiana Chicken, which packed quite a punch, served with light and fluffy saute potatoes. This was followed by a pleasant orange and walnut tart. My lunch date had hake, chips and... More
