visited for lunch and as we enterered we were immediately greeted with interest charm and courtesy. They have an interesting menu and I would recommend the seafood platter. The four of us enjoyed the whole experience and we'll be back for birthday celebrations in later spring.

Mrs Alexander and I had dinner again at battlesteads. She chose blackened salmon and I had cajun chicken. Suffice to say that the food was out of this world again and reliably continues to impress. It's been a couple of months since we last ate here and it was interesting to see the menu evolve with the seasons. Slightly sad... More

A party of 15 of us went to to the Battlesteads for the carvery. I was impressed by how quickly we were seated in the conservatory. The carvery was very generous. I had heard the portions of meat were small but they were huge. There was also a huge variety of veg to please everyone, from adults to small children.... More

I am in search of the perfect Sunday lunch. This place was fantastic, the crayfish salad starter was superb, my partner had pate which he said was excellent. The carvery was fresh beautifully cooked vegetables and a choice of succulent meat carved from large joints. Everything was piping hot with homemade gravy. I could not resist the sticky toffee pudding... More

I visited the Battlesteads today for the pensioners' special which was perfectly acceptable except that the potatoes were served up with as much skin on them as without. These had obviously been 'scraped' in some machine and not finished off properly. We had to do that ourselves. Why hotels serve up potatoes like this I will never understand. It is... More
