Excellent cuisine and service

We ate in the restaurant on two consecutive evenings and had a delightful experience on both occasions. On the first evening we had the 8 course Taster Menu without the wine package which was superb. The second evening we ate A la Carte, again an excellent meal. A good range of wines and cask ales... read more

We decided to visit here on the busy Easter weekend with our daughters. We managed to get a nice seat outside and were happy with the choices on the menu so got settled to stay for lunch. I went inside to order and was greeted by a very rude 'lady' who informed me that we would have a very long... More

We have eaten her two times, and both were very good. All of the food tasted fresh. The menu is quite eclectic which included such things as ribeye steak, sea bass, lamb, and onion and goat cheese tart. Everything I had was very tasty. The nice part is that they let you bring your dog into the restaurant as well... More

Menu choices include a great selection of local ingredients and the results were very good. I recommend the slow cooked beef cheek which simply pulled apart, yum! Some of the starters looked a bit small, but mains made up for it. It seemed quite a puzzle for some of the waiting staff who emerged from the kitchen with dishes that... More

visited for lunch and as we enterered we were immediately greeted with interest charm and courtesy. They have an interesting menu and I would recommend the seafood platter. The four of us enjoyed the whole experience and we'll be back for birthday celebrations in later spring.

Mrs Alexander and I had dinner again at battlesteads. She chose blackened salmon and I had cajun chicken. Suffice to say that the food was out of this world again and reliably continues to impress. It's been a couple of months since we last ate here and it was interesting to see the menu evolve with the seasons. Slightly sad... More

A party of 15 of us went to to the Battlesteads for the carvery. I was impressed by how quickly we were seated in the conservatory. The carvery was very generous. I had heard the portions of meat were small but they were huge. There was also a huge variety of veg to please everyone, from adults to small children.... More
