Just returned after 3 days at this unique place. We celebrated our wedding anniversary there. A warm welcome, attentive staff, fabulous food, clean pleasant room - what more can be said! The gardens including the Kitchen garden area are all well worth the visit alone! The lady gardener has really pulled together a wonderful show.

Disappointing, is the best I can say about this place. We were looking for an easy meal at the end of a days sightseeing around Hadrian's wall area and had been told this place was good. Started well when welcomed by two pleasant young barmaid/waitresses, one of whom was new and learning on the job. Both were, I think, East... More

We dined here on a Saturday evening using a voucher which meant we got the 7 course tasting menu for half price. An excellent deal if ever there was one. The food was fabulous, and each course was introduced by the waitress who explained where the ingredients had come from. Most of the vegetables and the garnishes came from the... More

Our family of twelve, met at the Battlesteads Hotel to-day, for Sunday lunch. It was an excellent meal, and the carvery was the best that we have found for a very long time. There was a good choice of roast meat, a great variety of vegetables and delicious puddings. The service was very good and we were able to enjoy... More

We had dinner at the Battlesteads. It's a proper old country house in the middle of the little village of Wark. The food was lovely, the service was good, though we got served by at least 4 different servers over our dinner which was a bit odd.

We were a big party, but they weren't phased, choice of menu excellent, quality of food excellent, service excellent, beer real and again excellent. Hey if you fancy a trip to Wark this is where you eat drink and be merry. They even have rooms so you can stop over.

We have had the privilege of dining at and staying at Battlesteads a number of times. We visit family in Wark, and the Battlesteads is convenient. The food is excellent. All of it locally sourced and lovingly prepared. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Whether you are there for the Sunday carvary, or a celebratory dinner you will be satisfied.

Stayed locally in a fishing lodge, so we went for dinner. We booked a table for 8.15 and promptly arrived at 9.10 having got totally lost on route. Great attitude , from the lady mine host, even though I suspect the chef was due off at 9, nothing was said. The amuse bouche arrived being an excellent creme dubarry laced... More
