My partner and I came here for Christmas dinner. We stumbled on the restaurant because almost everything else was closed. At a first glance at the menu we thought the prices were too high (even for Interlaken/Unterseen) but we stayed anyway. The food was delicious, well worth the money spent and the service was extremely friendly. I've read a few... More

Very nice restaurant, got to see the cooks grill food right next to our table at the 'grill station' they had. Fondue is a bit on the pricey side, but lives up to its standard (cheese, cheese w/mushrooms, or cheese w/bell peppers). Service was quick and staff was friendly and accomodating. Would like to go back and try more food.

We loved our dinner experience at Baren. Located in the old town part of Interlaken, it has a cozy and quaint atmosphere. We didn't want touristy or fancy --just good traditional food and that's exactly what we got. We started with garden salads, followed by raclette and schnitzel. The portions were large, the food was delicious and the service was... More

Very nice experience. Casual atmosphere in the "typical" Swiss restaurant. Good service, moderate prices (in a very expensive town). Excellent potato soup and goulash soup, pork cordon bleu and a pork with a brown sauce (2 people ordering). Reservations are helpful to have as the restaurant is quite popular. Go!

We asked our hotel for a restaurant that serves great Swiss food. I have relatives in Switzerland so didn't want a tourist restaurant. They suggested Restaurant Baren. We did get reservations and didn't wait for a menu or anything the entire evening even though they were quite busy. The marathon had just taken place that day. We had the Cordon... More

Very welcoming atmosphere. I was able to speak German, but there is no need. Everyone is conversant in English and the staff is very welcoming and accomodating. Fantastic Swiss Style Food.

Waited for almost 5 minutes upon being seated for the staff to get us the menus. They took ages to get us the bill too. All prices were exorbitant. Cheese fondue for one costed CHF30. Entrees CHF25 onwards. Water was charged. Portions of entrees were small considering the price, but cheese fondue for one could feed two. Salads/leaves accompanying the... More
