Good food and good beer

Have eaten here a few times now. The menu changes and has interesting dishes with daily specials written on the board. Portions are quite big and have never yet managed all three courses ( even choosing a small main ). When it is busy the food is still served at a reasonable time. The pub has a... read more

Nice quaint atmosphere, relaxing and spacious just a few yards from our guesthouse. Nice pint of lager, then another one.

Went for lunch after visiting the nearby osprey nesting site. Few people there so service good and friendly. Food average. The many pictures on the wall were most interesting and added to the visit.

Having seen reviews where it was advised to book a table to eat, we managed to book on the day... and for a rainy termtime Monday, although not full, there were still a fair few people in for food as well as for a couple of drinks. Our only (minor) complaints would be that the chips aren't brilliant (but OK)... More

The meals are lovely and because of this you need to book a table in advance. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We actually stayed here in the b&b for four nights so ate here 3 evenings.

We live locally to the Derby and have visited many times over the years. Over the past 3 years or so we have decided on various occasions not to go again for a while because of a bad meal. The manager and staff there now are all friendly and helpful, there's a really good selection of real ales, we really... More

We have been to this pub a few times over the years and enjoyed the ambiance and the beer! The food can be great or awful. We had booked for dinner at the Derby Arms on the first evening of the start of our weeks holiday in the Lake District, as we were staying in a cottage within walking distance of the pub in Witherslack.
