'Selene' restaurant was established in 1986 in Fira, Santorini by Yiorgos and Evelyn Hatziyannakis. Our aim was from the very start, to show and promote the local products along with the local cuisine hoping that this will enable us to transmit to our guests a taste of the island's culture. The success that we have had all those years not only within Greece but also worldwide, has encouraged us to continue with cooking lessons, catering for weddings and conferences and various gastronomical events. Since 2010 'Selene' restaurant has moved location from Fira to Pyrgos. Pyrgos is one of the most beautiful and well-preserved villages of Santorini built around a medieval castle located in one of the highest points of the island offering magnificent views. What is mostly important for us however is that Pyrgos village, and the restaurant's location especially, lies next to the famous vineyards and the valuable farmland of Santorini.

Culinary fun

We didn't eat in the main restaurant but we really enjoyed menu in the mezze area. Octopus carpaccio was incredible! Loved the artistry of the cuisine and the thought behind using the local ingredients.

We made a reservation after reading reviews in Wine Spectator. After arriving, we decided to try a new white wine with the aid of the SOMM, who was truly excellent. That, sadly, was the best part of our experience. We ordered 3 appetizers and one main dish, in order to try a few items on the menu. After waiting over... More

For anyone wanting authentic Greek cuisine in Santorini, this is the place! My husband and I each had the set menu in the Mezze part of the restaurant, the food was exquisite and the service was impeccable. We had searched for authentic amazing Greek cuisine in the 6 days we were staying in Santorini and we found it at Selene... More

Selene is the most known, gourmet restaurant, of Santorini. It's located just about central from most hotels, say 12 Euro taxi. Ten tables inside. Pleasant setting with views outside, yet was too chilly in early May. Menu created annually. The entrées are high quality gourmet. But it's the desserts. The lemon has survived three years on the menu, for good... More

We had a wonderful meal sitting outside with a lovely view. We were not expecting gourmet quality food, but that is what we got, for a very reasonable price. We had tomato fritters served in pita, a large salad with fried goat cheese from Ios, fried calamari with lemon scented fava puree, rice with tomatoes and wild greens and a... More

Everything from the food (including visual presentation) to the service was excellent in this restaurant, making the highish price well worth paying. Heartily recommended.

We made reservations for dinner at Selene a few weeks before our trip to Santorini. I feel a little pressure writing this review as I wasn't as bowled over by the Mezze & wine in Selene as the others who have reviewed it on Tripadvisor. The service was excellent as was the corn bread that was served...However, maybe we didn't... More

We came here for the mezze lunch and it was phenomenal. The dishes are nicely prepared and for a very reasonable price! The octopus carpaccio is something I have never seen before and it was incredible. Great service, great food, what more could you ask for?

We ate at this restaurant twice during our three day visit to Pyros. The food and service were exceptional. We can highly recommend both the Rice with Tomato's, Seaweed, and Goat Cheese and Santorini salad.

The staff was extremely friendly and the food was just a-ma-zing!!! Local products and excellent local wine. Highly recommend. I'd say it really is the best restaurant in Santorini. Absolutely loved it
