Description: 'Selene' restaurant was established in 1986 in Fira, Santorini by Yiorgos and Evelyn Hatziyannakis. Our aim was from the very start, to show and promote the local products along with the local cuisine hoping that this will enable us to transmit to our guests a taste of the island's culture. The success that we have had all those years not only within Greece but also worldwide, has encouraged us to continue with cooking lessons, catering for weddings and conferences and various gastronomical events. Since 2010 'Selene' restaurant has moved location from Fira to Pyrgos. Pyrgos is one of the most beautiful and well-preserved villages of Santorini built around a medieval castle located in one of the highest points of the island offering magnificent views. What is mostly important for us however is that Pyrgos village, and the restaurant's location especially, lies next to the famous vineyards and the valuable farmland of Santorini.

We tried the Meze and Wine, in terms of Quality per Price there is no doubt, the best restaurant we experienced in 2014. The view is not the best and the location is very modest but the food is absolutely amazing. Highly recommanded the Lemon scented Fava with fried squids and the Octopus carpaccio with white eggplant salad.

We stayed in Fira, but had read about Selene. The service is what you would expect from a fine dining establishment. We enjoyed the prosecco and the sea bass with truffles and risotto~ excellent and the best dish I had in Greece! The sea urchin salad and chicken with the lemon foam was disappointing and had been recommended in our... More

My family of two adults and two teens were signed up for the T2 cooking class at Selene. On the day we arrived, we discovered the class was just us. Needless to say, the opportunity to bond as a family while being instructed about Santorini local foods and cooking together was more than memorable. The meal in the cafe after... More

It's been a week since we ate there and I still have the taste of the food in my mouth. Selene is consistently praised as one of the best restaurants in Santorini by Greek media, and they are right. This restaurant was the first to start the trend of using local ingredients in Santorini restaurants, making dining on the island... More

We had plans to visit another restaurant on our last night in Santorini but our hotel owner recommended Selene. We went along with his suggestion and we are glad we did so! A wonderful meal, paced just right with a friendly, caring and yet not overbearing staff. We would go back in a heartbeat!

I'd definitely recommend a visit to Selene if you're in Santorini. The food is superb and of a similar standard to Michelin starred restaurants. The staff are friendly and attentive but sometimes they seemed a bit busy! We ate here twice and the pork belly and rooster were particularly good. It's fairly pricey, as you expect, but worth it!
