'Selene' restaurant was established in 1986 in Fira, Santorini by Yiorgos and Evelyn Hatziyannakis. Our aim was from the very start, to show and promote the local products along with the local cuisine hoping that this will enable us to transmit to our guests a taste of the island's culture. The success that we have had all those years not only within Greece but also worldwide, has encouraged us to continue with cooking lessons, catering for weddings and conferences and various gastronomical events. Since 2010 'Selene' restaurant has moved location from Fira to Pyrgos. Pyrgos is one of the most beautiful and well-preserved villages of Santorini built around a medieval castle located in one of the highest points of the island offering magnificent views. What is mostly important for us however is that Pyrgos village, and the restaurant's location especially, lies next to the famous vineyards and the valuable farmland of Santorini.

Super friendly staff

Selene has "fine dining" upstairs (much more expensive) or more cafe-like dining downstairs, I chose downstairs. I had the seafood pasta and it was amazing. But what I really remember is the super friendly staff -- especially my waiter, I don't know his name, but he (like the vast majority of... read more

Selene offers small but creative menu of freshest Santorini foods. Wait staff super enthusiastic and dedicated to making a fine dining experience for guests. Very pleased with the quality of food and service.

Loved the food here - we ate octopus and fava for entree, the lamb fagot with yoghurt and the seafood pasta. The best thing about this restaurant was their local wine knowledge - we asked about which wines would suit our meal and they nailed it! The food here was authentic and the wine just topped it off!

Fantastic restaurant for fine dining in beautiful Pyrgos. The staff provide excellent service and the food is absolutely fabulous. The spinach risotto as a starter and lamb for main are both highly recommended, sunset views are also icing on cake.

The presentation was lovely, but overall the meal was very expensive with small portions. Food was good, not great. The location was really the drawback. It is very out-of-way, and with the limited availability of taxis on the island, it was not worth the trip. Waiting on the cab home added an hour to dinner.

One of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in. It was accentuated by the staff who all had extensive knowledge of the food wine and were proud to be a part of such an amazing restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to experience innovative cuisine that is as beautiful to look at, as it is to... More

An excellent experience overall. Although Selene is in Purgos -a remote village away from the spectacular views of the Caldera, one can enjoy some excellent food and wine. The best we have had in Santorini. 5 stars to the food: For starters we had the scallops which were amazing and the quail which was very good too. For main we... More

A recommendation resulted in supper here. The menu looks interesting but the service from the outset was ridiculously over the top. Some of the food is clever and some of it is just bonkers, overworked and lacks flavour (poorly seasoned). One of our dishes was served far too cold and had to be sent back. No apology offered. Wine and... More

Went here during our honeymoon. Good food, but not worth the money. Would recommend other high-end restaurants in Oia and Fira over this one.
