Pleasant surprise

We were heading to the Red Cow on New Years eve, but found that full for a special event. The Butcher's Arms was nearby, and we were initially put off because it's a bunkhouse, but decided to give it a try. They were obviously busy, so we found a table and a few menus and seated ourselves. The... read more

We arrived about 15 minutes before official opening time and were welcomed warmly We asked if food was available and we directed to a table. A very pleasant lady took our order and our food and drinks arrived quite quickly. I only had pie and chips, but I can confidently state that it was the best pie I have ever... More

Received a recommendation & drove 10 mins to this lovely village pub. Mainly full with locals but the pub is a bunkhouse, so a few mountain bikers in the restaurant. Very friendly staff & typical Welsh way of life. We ordered lamb shank & gammon & chips. The food is really great & fantastic value for money. We will most... More

We are NOT mountain bikers like several other reviewers and only stopped off for dinner and found it more than acceptable although the wine list was limited (and expensive for what it was). It had a good range of food to cater for all tastes and the staff were friendly enough. But all in all - an average meal

Had a great weekend stay in June with a group of 17 of us touring some MTB centres. The bunkhouse was bang on with beds being the comfiest that we had experienced in several annual trips. Food was large portions and dead on quality and price wise. Suited us down to the ground with a mixed group of bods.

I was directed here by the lovely staff at the B and B . Upon arrival the staff appeared to take the attitude that serving me was too much effort and an unreasonable request . I didn't expect a Royal Welcome but a common courtesy of acknowlagement of a customers presence is surely a must ? The food was mediocre... More

Superb bunk house with really good comfy beds. I think it must have had a recent face lift because everything seemed very new. The showers were excellent, very hot and I liked the disposable shower mats. The breakfast was cracking, enough to keep you going for the day and the evening meals are good too.

We had the 8 person bunk room for 2 nights which was perfect for us, it was clean and well maintained and gave us somewhere to kip for the night - for the money it was good value. The hospitality was lovely as well although the owners have clearly had some bad experiences with stag-do's and the like from their... More

Stayed with 2 friends for a night whilst walking in the Brecon Beacons. The Bunkhouse was comfortable with warm showers. A little too hot during the night but this was rectified by opening the windows. A little noise from the bar which is underneath the bunkhouse, but really nothing to complain about. We ate at the pub the night we... More
