One of Toptables favourite hidden gems, Colwyn Bay offers a surprise in the shape of The Tamarind Thai Restaurant. Reliably fantastic food and always excellent service have ensured that The Tamarind is a local favourite and always, always busy. The cosy dining room, complete with Oriental wood carvings and always fresh flowers, is low key and subtle, perfect for those nights out with friends and family whether youre local to the area or enjoying a holiday in this historic area of North Wales. Chef Noo, renowned for the authenticity of his recipes, offers a wide ranging menu straight from the Bangkok streets. Anyone who has been lucky enough to visit Thailand will be immediately transported back to those balmy South East Asian evenings with one bite of the wonderful food here.

Thai treat!

As a regular visitor to the area I am so happy to find this really lovely Thai restaurant in Old Colwyn. We booked a table and when we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by the owner. All the food was freshly cooked and delicious, the service throughout was excellent. I cannot recommend the Tamarind highly enough, I... More

Not the best arrival - had to wait in the lobby of the hotel and no-one came when I rang the bell a couple of times, but I ventured through the bar and into the restaurant. The owner was busy taking orders but once I was settled he couldn't have been more helpful. A slightly strange environment - a hotel... More

Found this restaurant via Tastecard. Very quiet on the night we went but it was early midweek in February! It does lack atmosphere but the food was very good with quick and polite service.

This place is round the corner from my house and I've driven past several times so thought we'd give it a go. Had read some reviews which were helpful. First of all this is not your typical Thai restaurant. It's situated inside a little local hotel and the restaurant doubles as the breakfast room. Yes it looks a little odd... More

We have lived in Colwyn Bay a long time and have only just found this little gem of a restaurant. We went on the recommendation of our son and daughter in law and were not disappointed. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly. The decor is a little dated but the food more than makes up... More

Been here quite a few times and never had a bad meal. Really good tasty food and pretty reasonable as well. My only minor gripe is that if it isn't busy then it lacks a bit in atmosphere. Easy answer to that though -- take a group and make your own atmosphere!!

We went to the Tamarind on the recommendation of a friend, the venue needs updating but what a find. The food was brilliant, four of us eat great food and at great value. Will definitely eat there again and recommend it to others. Thanks

We hadn't been here for quite a while. Always enjoyed it beforehand and were interested to see what it was like with the new chef. Excellent meal - really enjoyed it again :). As has been mentioned before - don't go here for the atmosphere but do go for excellent Thai food.
