It's busy for a very good reason

We arrived at 7pm on a Saturday evening and it was already half full, by 8pm it was packed. So it was as busy as it could get and the staff were stretched but still friendly and attentive. It gets busy because it is popular despite there being other similar 'posh pub' places nearby (The Greyhound... read more

Lovely location, and nice outside areas. We arrived on spec., but won't be returning, and can't recommend. Very expensive food for what it is; slow service - one drink (of four) took ages to be served - blamed on till - what? Interesting menu, but food we had was fairly small portions, not very tasty and not good value. Served... More

We have come to this pub on and off for a few years now and after the fire damage and the rebuild the place is not anywhere near the lovely country pub it used to be. On the last couple of occasions we have waited extended times for food to be served, orders have come from the kitchen incorrectly and... More

Food was nice, but too expensive for what it is. Considering that the restaurant wasn't full, the service was slow. It took half an hour for our drinks to arrive and an hour for the food to arrive. I find that if i am in a restaurant and enough time has passed such that I ask where the food is... More

We nipped in for an impromptu early dinner with out daughter. Firstly isn't not cheap, children's meals start at £6 for one course. I had the fish and chips, hubby burger. My daughter had pasta in tomato sauce which she enjoyed but at £6 for a bowl of pasta with some passatta on it was expensive! Husband seemed to enjoy... More

We visited the Tally Ho for an early evening meal on Saturday. The reason being a good menu and good food on a previous visit. Our main complaint is waiting over 1 hour for our starter. This was unexplained to us and we had to inquire about the wait. We were also given a wrong measure of wine in a... More

My husband and I went here one mid week afternoon and had a lovely time. Granted the weather was scorching, we sat outside to enjoy the rays. The service was excellent - polite and friendly staff. They were very attentive to our needs. Good waiting time for food. We had the lunch menu - good portion sizes and tasty too.... More

Visited this lunch time with my friend for the first time. We both ordered a steak sandwich & later shared the waffle with caramelised banana and toffee sauce. Beautiful location and nice atmosphere. Staff were very efficient and nice. The food was utterly perfect, we both intend to come back as soon as possible! We may have been spoiled with... More

An expensive rubbish meal with terrible service! We cleared our starter plates away ourselves because they sat there, for 30 minutes after we had all finished. The restaurant wasn't busy, so the consistent poor service couldn't be blamed on that. They got mains wrong and also forgot dishes. It was chaos. We will not return!
