A visit to the shop, not the restaurant

We didn't have chance to go back to the restaurant, so only had fish from the shop which we took back to our holiday accommodation and made "seafood tapas" but this was incredible. Bit cramped, in the back of a fishmongers and totally mugged off with the prawn starter I had, about £10 for 3 prawns in a place like this, or any place for that matter, is a rip off. However, the rest of the food, and the service, was so good they fully redeemed themselves. The amuse bouche was delicious my... More

Having lived in the area for some time, we finally got round to going to Verveine for dinner. This is a very very small, quirky restaurant, with a friendly, informal, continental feel - possibly because of the way diners are packed into a small space. In preparation for our trip we had a look at the online 'sample menu', which... More

What an amazing experience! Mum and Dad very impressed. An individual experience in modern surroundings and food to die for! Our two children enjoyed it very much too and they catered (off menu) for our youngest, too. Simply great!!

What a wonderful place Verveine is. The restaurant is small enough to feel very intimate and has a lovely relaxed ambience. Staff are extremely efficient and knowledgeable without being intrusive and the chef is a perfectionist whose passion for what he does is immediately apparent. We loved the complementary amuse bouche of radishes in edible soil which concealed a delicious... More

What a fantastic little restaurant. I ate here with my husband on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant was full and had a really buzzy atmosphere. Yes its small, but thats part of the appeal. We had the four course menu all of which was beautifully cooked and well presented. All the little added extras were a lovely touch which you... More

Excellent cooking here with a lively atmosphere and great service. If you like fresh tasty seafood and also great desserts this is the place. We particularly liked the ability to tailor the tasting menu to our likes or dislike. We'd definitely return if near by. There aren't many places this good around with such a fresh approach.

We visited as it was a friends birthday and wanted a different experience. We choose to have the six course taster menu. The food was good with very different combinations but one corse was two small chunks of pineapple with a juice and so we felt a little cheated , it was not really a course. Also we had read that... Having read glowing reviews on trip advisor we dined here on a Tuesday evening; we were not disappointed. The restaurant is at the back of a high street fishmongers ensuring fresh fish. The menu is very inventive with unusual flavour combinations but firmly centred on superbly cooked fish. We had John Dory and Monkfish both of which were delicious. Service... More

What a find this place is. Don't let the simple decor fool you - this is fine dining. This is a small friendly restaurant with great service and fabulous food. A simple concept of 4 different sauces to choose with a very wide range of freshly caught fish. Well worth a visit!
