Small, intimate and quaint (the entrance is through the fishmongers,) staff were friendly, knowledgable and very attentive; don't be fooled by their youth! We were very well looked after. The food is incredible, we had the taster menu, wow! As other reviews say the flower pots and sherbet fountains are amazing. Our first visit was for a special occasion but... More

Not sure what to expect as I am not a fishy sort of person but everything was just perfect. Even though they do have meat on the menu we all had fish . Bonus was the liquorice/sherbot sorbet before your dessert . Just wonderful. Worth the 20 wait to get a taxi from the train !!

A very creative approach to seafood eating. Delicious and unexpected combinations - very enjoyable. Small dining area - so book ahead

Definitely one of the best meals I have ever had in a restaurant (July 2014). I can recommend this restaurant unreservedly and only wish I lived in the area so that I could also shop at the fishmongers and deli there. One of our friends who took us for lunch on Saturday had been to a cooking class with the... More

Deliciously fresh fish in a cosy, casual restaurant. Great service, excellent food that can easily beat many a London restaurant! There was a slight delay between our main courses & desserts, but it was well worth the wait. Amazing dinner!

The Chef/Owner David Wykes tweeted that he was just starting an updated summer menu so on an absolute whim (and because my partner was away) I went over for lunch. It was amazing, I tried what the chef recommended and had wonderful sea trout. As others say Verveine looks unassuming from the outside – see photo – but I think... More

We have just had the most amazing evening out with friends. From our pre dinner drinks to our after dinner petit fours everything has been great. The menu itself leaves you wondering how to choose what to try. Your palete is challenged to try foods you would not think of serving together My smoked salmon starter came served with a... More

Spent the evening of our 23rd wedding anniversary at this restaurant . We have lived in the village for a year but not visited before. Small but very pleasant restaurant with attentive staff who are not over the top. Limited menu but enough choice for all (fish lovers). Good service, unusual, very good food, cooked to perfection and great ambience.... More

The Verveine shop front gives no hint of the small, long and wonderful restaurant that lies behind it. It is all about fish with a choice of about a dozen main courses depending on the latest catch. Food presentation is of the highest order and the young waiters explained each dish in detail, with a smile. Our meal was the... More

This wasn't 'going out for dinner', this was an experience to end all dining experiences, in the very best possible way. From being greeted by such warm and friendly staff, who make eye contact and smile with a sincerity, we were transported into a magical world of tastes, aromas, and extremely interesting conversations with Chef, and his staff, who are...
