Classy vibe, good fresh food, reasonably priced

Went here with the bread knife to consume what is commonly referred to as 'food'. Lovely setting, with a pre-meal bar area and delicately lit, tastefully decorated restaurant area. Had the 2 course deal with saves a few bob. Could be cheaper, but you get what you pay for, which we did. Tasty... read more

Came here last night, never been before. Very good and friendly service. Food was delicious. One of the nicest restaurants I've eaten at, and I've been to a few. Unfortunately never had a dessert although I wanted one as I we were so full!! The Cajun chicken burger is highly recommended. And my partner had the stir fry and it... More

Great menu, varied and pleasing. Used to be a bank, so has ambience. Booking is recommended. Staff are great and always go the extra yard.

We were spending a weekend with friends in Hoylake and, knowing Sunday was going to be a busy day, we suggested they find somewhere local where we could take them for a evening meal. On the basis that The Portrait House served Sunday lunches until 5pm, they booked us in. We arrived late afternoon to a warm and friendly welcome... More

Overly disappointed with the food, the service, the price. Definitely not returning! We arrived at the restaurant with high expectations although these sadly where not met. For 30 minutes we where made to sat in the bar waiting for our table which we had booked. When taken over to the table the lack of attention to detail was evident, the... More

I would like to start, I eat out quite often, in many restaurants, mainly in Liverpool, with it's bountiful restaurant scene, I felt compelled to type the following: Bitterly disappointed with this meal, we thought we would take advantage of the 50% off offer but left leaving like we had paid a relatively 'normal' price for a meal that was... This restaurant has it nailed. Excellent service from being warmly greeted as we walked through the door and being offered the option to have a drink in the bar or go straight to the table. The waiting on staff were the most attentive I have come across in a very long time and the ratio of staff to customers (It... More

We expected our meal/service to be compromised due to the busy valentines trade... How wrong we were, Matt and his team were very attentive, all courses and drinks served at the right time without fuss. The food was beautiful. Thank you for a great night, we hope to return the next time we visit the Wirral.

It was by a recommendation for reason of visit. Family were visiting from all over UK to discuss Xmas. 7 of us had 3 courses each, but only one of us was impressed with their meal. Which was a Salmon or Sea bass main dish. Small portions, even the vegetables were scarce. Not value for money. Nice interior although their... More

Four of us went for lunch last sunday. We had to wait a while for attention but when we were finally shown to a table, the layout of the restaurant was very pleasant. The cost of the meal and choice was very good but the starter was disappointing. I had crab cakes but they were bland and I wouldn't have... More
