Charming country pub

Visited for lunch on a cold December day, the pub that dates back to the 1700's was warm and welcoming with a nice fire going near the bar. The menu offered a good variety of choices at reasonable prices. The staff were vey helpful and service was efficient and friendly. The food was very good and... read more

Went here today for a quick lunch with my husband. I ordered the goats cheese and Portobello mushroom ciabatta sandwich with fig compote and was disappointed to then be told the cheese delivery hadn't arrived......theres a tesco down the road no need to take it off the menu!! Ended up ordering the "posh fish goujon" ciabatta, it was ok but... More

Hi, Many thanks for your review. We are disappointed that we didn't win you over on your first visit. It has taken us a couple of weeks to get the kitchen running smoothly. We have a new chef starting today and new equipment being delivered tomorrow morning. We hope to welcome you back soon! Cheers. Rose & Crown. More

Visited this pub with my family for Sunday dinner. Food excellent and atmosphere so homely and welcoming, lovely staff who couldn't do more to help. So nice to find a restaurant where you can really feel at home and retire on the sofas when you're feeling full!

A real charming pub in a beautiful location. Great garden and a great view. The pub also has chickens which keeps the kids occupied! A real gem.

Lovely pub tucked away on the back road between Harefield and Rickmansworth. Excellent food and well kept real ale, what more needs to be said!

I stumbled across this pub come restaurant by chance after a long tiring journey on the A40. It was an early sunday evening and the pub was fairly empty which was ideal for me. The menu consisted of typical dishes plus a few med styles. I chose the king prawn and chiabata starter, very filling infact it was more than... More

My husband and I chose this beautiful little pub as our wedding venue. We hired the pub for the day in September this year. The food was perfect on the day and we had great service throughout the whole day. Nothing actually went wrong. We chose this venue as we wanted to do something different, we didn't want a typical... we were there on a Monday when trainee chefs cook the lunch - two courses for £11.50 - great value. We had a delicious meal with friends - two had lamb and two salmon. I had the fish which was perfectly cooked - moist and tasty with a bed of freshly cooked al dente vegetables and new potatoes on the... More

Visited for a Sunday roast with the family. Was pleased we were able to get a table short notice and that we were able to sit in the nice pub garden. Food was brought out quickly. Despite this we only had one vegtable dish between four people (1 piece of cauliflower, 2 pieces of broccoli and loads of sweed mash... More
