My wife took me for dinner on my birthday. We have been several times but not in the past year. Before there were daily specials and a basket of artisan breads but not now. We asked for bread and a few pieces of very dry bread arrived which appeared on the bill for UK£1 as toast. My wife had a... More

We visited this restaurant for my birthday and were very disappointed by the restaurant. The bar staff were excellent. Friendly and welcoming. We decided to move to the restaurant and our experience changed. It was not busy but we had to wait a long time for our drink order to be taken. Then another length of time for our order... More

Quite a menu and absolutely lovely. Delightful interior of the restaurant, great attentive staff. Thoroughly enjoyed a long lunch here with a fine bottle of wine. Left feeling very chilled.

Went here for some drinks. It has really lovely cocktails at a good price. A lovely garden, good service and atmosphere

Had a good meal 4 years ago and thought I'd return with friends for lunch. Unfortunately, we were all very disapointed. I had the roast pork and I can honestly say there was nothing on the plate that had any flavour, from the giant Yorkshire pud, to the roasties and the very overcooked, dry and tough pork. How can you... More

Came here for lunch and sat in the garden, was lovely and peaceful. Food was okay, I had the chicken sandwich which was nice and loved the way the chips was presented in a little bucket. Also had the 2 cocktails for £8 deal, I had the Game, Set and Match and my friend had the Classic long island ice... More

Meal for two on sunday, both of us ordered steak which at £20 each should have been good!!! They were very poor cuts of meat with lots of fat and gristle, very disappointing. The service was ok and our waiter did remove the cost of our drinks.

Called in for lunch. First time of visiting and found everything OK but wouldn't rush back. Some staff were great, some disinterested. Same could be said of the food. Some good, some very ordinary. Wasn't impressed with pieces of glass on the ground outside especially with lots of little children around. Would we return? Probably not

We have been going to the Arkle for many years now and only once out of probably 80 meals we have eaten there has it ever caused us to be disappointed - and in its defence our disappointment was because we had normally found it good. (one warning note probably best not to have steak if large party as other... More

We ate here on a Friday night in mid may and have to say we were very impressed. We had the squid to start with which was perfectly cooked. I had mackerel for main course and my wife had the seafood Linguine. We finished with the pudding sharing platter which was great. Highly recommend
