St George's Day Visit

I visited the George last night for St George's Day....what a fantastic night. The atmosphere was great, it was really busy and everyone was really friendly. The staff were lovely and came over with treats for my dog. I didn't have any food, but friends did and said it was really tasty. Well... read more

Went to the George last night and had a great meal. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was terrific. Never had to wait long to be served and nothing was to much trouble. The food is the best we've eaten in Plympton and also incredibly good value for money. Everything was home made and tasted great. Defo be going back.

The relatively new owners have worked hard to revamp The George and last night four of us agreed that we'd just had the best meal we'd ever had there. It has no pretensions to fine dining but provides good pub food which is definitely superior to the chain pubs. The food is cooked fresh and is not microwaved so the... More

Looked at the website first to check out the menu. Decided what we were going to eat as had time constraints. On arrival went to order but the menu they have is totally different from their own web page. Little choice for vegetarians or children, and quite pricey and none of the things all of us had chosen now exist.... More

Having been to the George over many years and the food being hit and miss, it is now under new ownership and I was extremely pleased to have a good meal last week. Five of us ate, all choosing something different and everything was very good. They offered a good selection of starters and mains, (we were too full for... More

Myself and 3 other adults and 2 children popped here on valentines day evening. We totally forgot it was valentines day and when we arrived all the tables had reserved on them. After speaking to a member of staff they were happy to find us a table with a later reservation. The atmosphere was friendly, service was great and the... More

This pub changed hands approximately one year ago and sad to say, the standards have changed with it. Table was booked for 1pm - finally received food at 2pm. Ordered the beef wellington which was more like a steak pie, with soggy pasty. The veg was just about warm, and it was served with gravy (which I presume was leftover... More

This was the first time we visited this pub. It was a very pleasant experience. There was a good ambiance, the staff were friendly, but most importantly the food was good. We would visit again.
