Nice but not as nice as in the past

This is a great place to eat . but there's always a but it seems to be more reliant on footpads then quality at the moment due to its popularity they know that it will sell the food. It had a nice area to suit outside you'll need to watch the kids as there is a main road to the... read more

This is a fabulous place to go if you want good food at a very reasonable price. Due to hte volume of people who eat here, you may have to queue for you food, but well worth the wait.

Two staff behind the bar one new and in training, one teaching and pouring drinks. I appreciate everyone needs to learn but this was painful. He had no idea how the tip, worked and just laughed everything off. Once you had been waiting over 10 mins with only two people in front it was not funny. We ordered a cavery... More

The actual pub is dank & grubby, I felt I could do with a shower when getting home. The menu is centered round the carvery which is fine, however they have to realise that not everyone in the group might want one. Poor menu, service ok, food poor. Never thought cheesy chips could ever be messed up!!. Chicken wings was... More

It was approx 1730 (5-30pm) and the place was totally mobbed. There was only 3 staff who seemed to be working, but they were all friendly. There was only one member of staff working behind the bar, and she was taking food orders and serving drinks at both sides of the bar. The food was relatively inexpensive, but wasn't really... More

Had a really nice lunch, enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. It was busy, but worth the wait, finding a table was difficult inside so we opted to eat outside. As it was a nice day there was no problem, but I would imagine it would be frustrating if it wasn't trying to find a table inside. However that said... More

My friend and I had a lovely carvery here today. Nice relaxed atmosphere where you can have a meal and a good old chat without having to shout over a juke box. Staff are nice & friendly as well. Good value.

How can you fault the Lord Louis? You pay the £5 and eat as much as your plate can hold. It's hot, tastey and saves you cooking or doing the dishes. The staff are polite, you might have to wait a few minutes to order at the bar but that's nothing.

I just don't understand why anyone is complaining. Get real - you go out and have a varied carvery which is a far better meal than anything a Toby or weatherspoons can give and it's only just over £4! (even cheaper than Morrison café) We often pop in after work to eat before we go home to save us cooking.... More
