Description: Hidden in the corner of Spennymoor next to the council offices in Green Lane formally known as 'The Half Moon' lies a secret to be discovered after 4 months of refurbishment it opened it doors September 2012. When you enter you will be greeted with a warm welcome from the friendly staff. The setting has been themed on a rustic tuscancy hideaway filled with colours & fabrics of the Mediterranean. Its owners are a local family and with the help of our renowned chef Mike Nichol offering good home cooked food inducing fish and thick cut juicy steaks and an array of mouth watering dishes. Step outside and you will discover a tuscany courtyard and you are met with the sight of a old vineyard running round stone buildings & disappearing in the blue skyline. Exciting plans have been passed for a forty seater restaurant complete with its own kitchen and authentic open plan wood burning oven which will bring the smells and the taste of the Mediterranean

Our 3rd visit here and would recommend for family meals and couples. Food is lovely and all good portions never left feeling hungry yet. There's a small play area out the back for the young ones to keep them entertained. Staff are friendly and always helpful which adds to the whole experience. Look forward to our next visit.

Enjoyed a lovely Saturday afternoon meal with friends in this fab find! Delightful pub serving top notch food, varied menu and great service from the staff. Mains from GBP6 including sizzling dishes, chicken skewers, curry, and toasties etc. All food was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Ideal place to have an outdoor event as lush garden/decked area. Novel idea... More

Hidden away from the town centre, The Olive Grove is a fabulous little bar/restaurant that has a growing fanbase. The menu is extensive and the food excellent and great value for money. The staff are friendly and helpful and nothing is a problem for them. An ouside beer garden is impressive and well worth a visit in the summer months.... More

Enjoyed a great meal on Saturday night with 5 friends and the service was excellent and the food and wine were perfect. This is the third time my wife and I have visited this restaurant and despite this place being fairly new to the fine dining scene they bend over backwards to ensure they deliver a good meal. We visit... More

Visited here for a wedding anniversary meal recently. Pleasant welcome on arrival and found they had put a few wedding anniversary banners up around our table which was a really nice touch (they had asked the purpose of our meal when we booked but we didn't think anything of this at the time). Very nicely decorated restaurant. Ordered a starter... More

I can't fault the food I must say that firstly however the service is the poorest I have ever received. This was my second visit after giving the place the benefit of the doubt from the last time. Nothing has changed. Understaffed and overbooked lead to the very young waitresses and male waiter arguing amongst themselves about who would go... More

My daughter was visiting and we decided to go out for Sunday Lunch, but where to? Onto the internet and The Olive Grove looked lovely. It was only a couple of miles away in the next town so we set off around 2 pm. On arrival we waited a couple of minutes before anyone came to show us to a... More

We ordered the three course Sunday lunch which was £14.00. It's usually very nice but this week was a big let down. The starter of chicken goujons looked big but there was hardly any chicken and just a lots of greasy fatty batter. The main was ok but there was nothing special about the veg and it was very bland.... More
