Called in for a meal, on our way back from Welshpool to our campsite - what a lovely surprise, with such a wide choice of really good and varied pub meals, at sensible prices. The owners made us feel at home, and our 2 westie dogs were also invited in. We will call again when we next pass that way

We enjoyed a very pleasant evening, with a great selection of classic good pub grub, plus some additonal more exotic vegetarian choices. It was quite hard to choose, but we were all very happy with our varied choices. Puddings were good too. There was a pool table and darts for after meal entertainment, which they didn't mind the younger people... More

I picked the Herbert from reviews on tripadviser. There's a good menue with plenty of specials and I enjoyed my gammon but at least on that day it looked a bit bleak and cold. Maybe not for a special occasion.

Been here a couple of times since the new owners have been in charge. The welcome is certainly warm and the staff very helpful and attentive. A nice pub atmosphere, we visited at lunchtime and there was a friendly, village hum to the place although not overly busy. Nice and warm with the new woodburning stoves. The menu is standard... A warm welcome started a very enjoyable evening, where we were looked after with lovely home cooked food and just enough attention. The menu is varied and included many local ingredients. Despite getting busy the food was served quickly and was good quality. The interior of the pub could do with a little investment, particularly the bar area, but all... More

We were staying nearby and stopped at The Herbert Arms on our second evening. The menu was average with plenty of standard village pub food on offer. We had heard some really good reviews that mentioned Vintage Cheddar Cheese Soufflé amongst others and wanted to try these, however, we discovered that the pub ownership has changed and those dishes were... Fabulous meal, very generous portions not too expensive. The new owners are friendly and make time for a chat. Dining room is clean and comfortable and the bar is welcoming, the Bombardier beer tastes wonderful. Will definitely be returning often. Well worth a visit.

We popped in at lunchtime to have a drink and we ended up choosing a local ale brewed all of 2 miles away. As soon as we showed an interest in the ample coal fire (15.2kw - heats 7 radiators as well) we fell into animated discussion about the value of fires and Martin, the owner, went to the trouble...
