Description: Nestled on the banks of the River Alyn in the pretty village of Rossett North Wales, The Alyn Riverside Country Pub offers excellent food and boasts a unique riverside setting...Combined with a warm and friendly welcome, The Alyn is much more than the average village pub. We have recently welcomed abroad a new award winning head chef and we are very keen to show off his talent. We are now working even harder to produce the best locally sourced, home cooked food possible.

As far as gastropubs go, it exceeded my expectations! I visited with my family, five of us in total, and we all ordered different meals. These being: Minted Lamb baguette (with an addition of cheese that they gladly obliged); Steak and Ale pie; Lamb Shank; Mushroom Crumble and I had Grilled Chicken with Leek and Bacon Mash with Cheese sauce.... The food at the Alyn has really improved lately and is excellent value for money. Really nice setting by the river and good choice for vegetarians. Recommended. The Sunday lunch is very good.

Christmas Eve meal: chewy meat, no taste, no seasoning and just bland. It used to be so good here. The dessert was a watery crumble with tasteless ice cream. My entire table of more than 8 left disappointed. Staff were very friendly despite our grumpy faces and plates full of food being left. Waiting times for food was a bit... More

Food was OK, but lacks finesse. Better priced restaurants in the area serve similar food at a higher standard. Need to rely less on the deep fat fryer! Staff are very good though and the restaurant is very good at accommodating young children.

As per my last comment on this establishment we returned. Just had an early evening main and was stuffed with just one course. Tasty soft and full of flavour house burger and pan fried chicken fillet with bacon and leak mash. All washed down with a nice guest beer..

As I said read the reviews seemed good place to go. However the room where they do meals has horrible carpets and mismatched curtains. Not busy for a Friday. Ordered fish and chips and gammon steak. Beer good. Meal arrived. Big chips on both an papers under f&cs. Noticed a puddle of grease on paper. The chip were soaked with... More

Many, many years ago when my husband and I first met we used to go on romantic escapes to Rossett to have an evening away. On most visits we'd call into the Alyn for a drink. A few weekends ago during one of those beautiful balmy autumn weekends we have had recently we decided to take a drive out to... More
