Good quality dinner

We were staying in a cottage in Tealby and this pub was conveniently just down the road. Decent real ales and a very enjoyable dinner. Had scallops to start with and a main of halibut with mussels and samphire, which came with a side salad. The halibut was quite pricey and the piece of fish was... read more

The food was really good. We popped in on a Saturday evening and it was very busy but staff were able to offer us (2 people) a table after a 20 minute wait. As it was a full house, the staff were rushed and busy, but it did not take too long for food to arrive and really enjoyed it.... More

We popped in without a booking on Saturday and the pub was very busy but found the last table in the back bar. We had our dog with us and we got told we was able to let her in, which was very lovely. A young girl came and gave us some menus and a special board and a young... More

We initially had a light lunch here as we were travelling through. The sandwiches were substantial with, unexpectedly, some tasty chips and a nice salad accompaniment which made us resolve to come back in the evening. We were not disappointed - my wife had beef medallions and I had the slow cooked blade of beef and they were both high... More

as we were staying in Tealby there were only two pubs to visit if we wanted to leave the car at our b & B. We were told we had to order food before 6.30pm for meals, it took forever to be served for drinks alone and the food was of a sub-standard and not cheap. Dogs are not permitted... More

Visited over the weekend before going to a concert locally. The place was absolutely packed, luckily we had booked. We were greeted & sat promptly with menus. Staff were as pleasant as always despite being under pressure. Our order was quickly taken & starters were with us within 7-8 minutes. The Ham Hock was one of the best I've tasted... More

Dined here with the family, and all our meals were terrible. The steaks were way-overcooked on a dirty griddle or pan; two fish dishes were similarly murdered. Not interesting food at all. I spent £130 on poor food and lacklustre service. They were so busy, not enough staff. Didn't even ask how the food was. Save your money - go somewhere else.

Had the set menu with bread and olives as an extra it was worth every penny the fish pie was specially cooked for me with no shell fish and was absolutely fantastic. The standard of food was very high. The staff were so accommodating they couldn't do enough for us it was a fantastic all round experience

Arrived mid-week without a booking. Warm welcome by owner and shown into main restaurant area which feels like a medieval banqueting hall with a high ceiling and white walls. Great choice of a la carte and specials. I had the liver pate to start which was smooth and flavoursome; followed by an Indian-style fish dish which was excellent. My wife... More
