friendly service, lovely food

We went for a weekday lunch and did not book. A very good sign was that the restaurant was full, so we were told that they would serve the food to us in the bar. We were shown the specials board and decided on pork with Stilton and a beef pie. The food came prompt, even though it was busy... read more

A late decision to go out mid week after finishing work late we headed out to what could have been a pleasant evening with good food particularly as the pub had won a local award in 2014. We chose the two courses (£15.95) from the menu rather than one course from the list on the blackboard where the average was... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant after recently moving to the area and cannot praise it enough. We originally sat in the bar area as we arrived without booking, and we were grateful to even get a seat! However we were sat near the door and asked to be moved as there was a draft. The staff could not be more... More

Booked a meal as a surprise for my husband and what a lovely place it is. I was recommended to book here by the lady whos b&b we were staying at. The service here is excellent and the food is amazing, we liked the food that much we even came back the next day, even though the 2nd time we... More

Lovely pub. We popped in for some food which we had a lamb and mint pie which came with chips and peas, it was very good, meat was very nice. My partner had the Brie bake which looked amazing and said it tasted divine. Service was quick and staff were very pleasant. Good value for money

Went for lunch with friends on recommendation. Very disappointed with choice on set menu so opted for starter and main from a la carte. Pate was tasty but a very mean serving with only chutney and three pieces of toast considering it cost over £6. Steak pie was absolutely disgusting - lumps of gristle amongst hard, tasteless chunks of meat... More

Found this little pub on Trip Advisor and it was well worth it. Had a lovely 2 course Sunday lunch which was generous and well cooked. There were plenty of staff who looked after us very well and made us feel most comfortable.

We went for lunch. We had a variety of starters and mains. Highlights for us were the bread and oils, the pate, funky fish pie and the coffee at the end. The service is faultless. The pub is beautiful and would be ideal to sit outside in the summer. The price is about right for premium pub. Those on a... More
