A group of us went on Sunday for my Mum's birthday. We arrived around 3pm after the lunchtime rush so getting a table was no issue. The food was very good. I had the half roast chicken option off the menu which was excellent. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. The chocolate brownie tower was amazing as well, but... More

Taking my wife out for her birthday we were told that the priory was a good place to go. We didn't reserve a table and appreciated we had to wait for a table being a Monday night I didn't think there was any need. We were sat at a table that needed to be wiped down and cleared. We were... More

Perhaps the best idea when visiting this pub is to stay inside. The pleasing rustic interior, with open fires in the winter, is its main attraction. Unfortunately we visited on a warm Saturday lunchtime and ate on the front lawn, foolishly enduring the constant motorway noise and the wasps. At a total cost of £27 for two half-pints of beer... We've visited a number of times over the past few years and sadly it gets worse each time. As many reviewers have said - great location, etc etc, but food is a let down. Two meals ordered - gammon was ok but very small - more a rasher than a steak, served with approx 2 teaspoons of peas and a... More

My colleagues recommended The Priory as they often take clients there for lunch. The Priory is only 10 minutes from our Avonmouth offices. We took some overseas clients, who particularly asked to have lunch at a typical English pub. We were not disappointed - the staff made us all welcome from the minute we walked in. The fact that everyone... More

After a string of very poor meals, surly service, and empty car parks, my wife and I ate at The Priory on Saturday lunch time as the M5 was very busy. It was good to see Catherine back, along with some other familiar faces - my wife had a pie, always a favourite, and I had half a chicken that... More

We were a group of six with a reservation. Unfortunately the service was poor whereby we had to wait aprox 30 minutes for our order to be taken and then a further 50 minutes for our food. We did receive a round of free drinks after a complaint re service. Once it arrived the food was very good.

We visited Sunday afternoon around 5.30 pm for an early supper. 3 adults and two children aged 4 and 7. It is a place we have visited on numerous occasions and usually at this time on a Sunday as it is convenient for the M5. The setting is lovely. Old stone pub with lovely decor. Solid tables and chairs and... More

Great atmosphere excellent food. Steak was fantastic my wife's goats cheese tartlet was amazing. Salmon on the kids menu. For our first time visit our waitress hannah was more than helpful and made our 4.5 family feel welcome. One to try if your near by.
