It was good to see the car park full again, the starters and main were good quality though fillet steak at £20 is a tad pricey for a pub. What lets The Priory down badly is the service :- - 20 minutes before our drinks order was taken, another ten then the wine bottle was plonked down on our table... More

Went for a drink here and was pleasantly surprised Very busy, most tables booked and it seemed that everyone was going for a meal, unfortunately not us - maybe next time. Appeared old fashioned and quaint but still remaining elegant Staff were friendly, courteous and attentive Would welcome an opportunity to eat here

If your looking for a good traditional pub meal this will not disappoint. The food is simple traditional food cooked well with good service. The restaurant was clean and welcoming and we were able to sit in the restaurant with other customers and still hear ourselves speak which was good. We certainly got a plate full of food and good... We arrived Sunday 4pm, sat at table we were told to go to find it was not cleaned and food from previous diners on floor. Bad start. Cannot understand staff who use same jay cloth to clean tables all afternoon. I could smell fousty cloth from 5 meters. Surely disposable wipes every time. Dispite this negative the Beef and Merlot... More

We only seem to go to the Priory in large groups to celebrate something; in this case a retirement. Thirteen of us sat down on a Thursday night slightly surprised to find that from 7:30 onward it remained full, mainly, again with parties of five or more. No need to order in advance. Service a bit slow but attentive to... More

Had not been to the Priory for some months as we have tried some new local venues in Portishead, only in a few cases to have had some unpleasant experiences rude scruffy staff overpriced and bland food. But on arrival at the Priory we were made instantly welcome, allocated a table and give excellent table service, coupled with very good reasonably priced food.The... More

The Priory used to be a real favourite of ours in the Portishead / Portbury area although in recent visits (on a Sunday evening and mid-week for lunch) it has disappointed. We've been visiting for over 20 years. However something has changed - although the menu offers staples and there are specials which you would expect, the pricing and the... More

Been here many times and each time I go it doesn't seem to get any better. The staff are very friendly and attentive, the menu's are good but the portions are tiny, the food has always been very good and tasty here and it's a lovely atmosphere, great decor, log fires and comfy seats but not value for money, over... Liked everything! Great service. Have been 4 or 5 times. This was by far the most enjoyable. Good quality wine and the best food I've had here. Would recommend to anyone in Bristol / Nth Somerset area. Terrific pub with a bit of class. Thanks The Priory.

Seven of us called in for lunch to celebrate an 18th birthday. It was not a special lunch, just a family get-together. The staff were pleasant and efficient, serving the drinks and food. The food was chosen from a fairly extensive menu and we were not disappointed. Well worth a try.
