Average with a capital 'A'

I have visited The Priory on 5 or 6 occasions due to it's location. At best I'd rate the food as 'OK' but over last 2 or 3 months the food has gone downhill. The menu, being part of a pub chain, is not complicated and should be easy to cook nicely. However, the fish pie lacked flavour and the... read more

So, so disappointed with the food, presentation and lack of interest in us as customers. What has happen to good old fashioned service? We were a party of 4. Ordered our food after having to wait while the staff finished off a conversation ! Food arrived 2 meals were at best Luke warm. And the other was so so bland!... More

From the moment we arrived an enjoyable evening commenced. The service throughout was consistent, and together with an excellent menu, matched by food of an imaginative and tasty standard. We were a party of four, all choosing different choices from the menu, and nobody was dissapointed. The option of a Mini Sweet and Coffee was a welcomed choice to end... More

Went for a late Sunday lunch here with my family. We all had the roast dinner which was plentiful and tasty. My son and I shared the roast platter which had 3 types of meat. Desserts were huge, the Eton mess was a particular treat! Prompt, friendly service. Will certainly come again.

Pricey burnt small portioned food. They managed to servely disappoint our party of 5 who went in there at a reasonably quiet time (many tables empty) expecting bog standard pub grub. The sausage and mash: the sausages were burnt to a crisp. One portion came out stone cold. The hunters chicken: chicken severely overcooked. Pie: could do with more than... More

We discovered this after eating at other vintage inns and realised that it was tucked away on our door step. It's within easy reach of m5 and less than 5 mins from Gordano services. Really nice food, big portions and cosy atmosphere like all vintage inns. Calamari and chorizo to start was delicious. Steak was a nice cut but a... More

Booked a table for five us of for five of us for lunch at 2pm. We chose our meal fairly quicky and went to the bar to order. Stood for a long time before we ordered with only one or two staff in sight. There was a notice that their chip frier had broken so there may be a small... More

We were hungry after a long day and called in late afternoon, friendly welcome and a nice atmosphere. I had the best lamb I have eaten in years, tasty, perfectly cooked, wonderful. My wife had the hunter's chicken which again was tasty and perfectly cooked. Great food, lovely pint of Guiness, clean and well run business, you will miss out... More

Visited on a sunday after a 12 month lay off, whereby the food was average. On this visit a group of four, we all ordered the beef roast, the offering looked good but once we started eating, the beef was over cooked and very tough. On making a complaint to the waiter his comment was " other people have said the... More

We have been to The Priory many times but this will be our last visit as the speed of service was terrible and the food just passable. A 7:30 booked table. Ok it was a busy Wednesday night but a 10 mins wait standing at the bar just to be seated was clearly a bad omen. Eventually we were shown... More
