Excellent meal after hiking from San Salvatore

Good local Ticinese food to be consumed with a local wine - we had fresh mushrooms ! The value for money is adequate. We were sitting on the terrace decorated with many plants. Ticinese music played at all times (sound system) - is ok for the hour you are enjoying your meal. Even better if you a resting when hiking... More

Good local traditional food. Ticinese music played at all times (sound system). Sitting outside with beautiful view on the lake / mountains. You also can have just a glas of wine / beer. Value for money is ok.

The food was above average but the service was terrible. The waiter was carrying too many tables. He asked others to help but did not follow up. He was having too much fun chatting up other diners. After waiting too long for our check, (4 requests and .5 hr.) when we were leaving the owner apologized for the delay. It... More

We ended up at this place by chance but we didn't regret it all! Service was ok and the menu was not very extensive. But if you go there definitely try out something from the grill! Chicken and spare ribs were really tasty and we enjoyed it to the last bite! Relaxed atmosphere especially in a summer evening in the... More

I agree with previous reviewers who described the kitschy atmosphere. It is a reasonably pleasant environment, but the food is essentially slop - pre-cooked meat swimming in over-salted gravy. The price is also outrageous, although that seems typical in this part of Switzerland. The house wine was so-so, and also overpriced. The service was good, but that's not the most... More

This is a typical Grotto experience with traditional music from the Tessin in the background and red and white checked tablecloths. It is very comfy to sit on the terrace covered with vine leaves. It was almost a bit too much "kitsch". The menu has the usual Grotto food like polenta with brasato or wild mushrooms, salumi etc. But they... More

we have been here a few times, for dinner and lunch and the staff are lovely and the food excellent. really good value, great atmosphere. the fires were buring brightly when we were there in October which made it cosy and romantic. The only criticism was we felt a little rushed, but the food was just wonderful.... Go for the... More

The Grotto Pan Perdu is at the end of the center part of Carona. You climb up the stairs and enter in a world of its own: It is almost kitsch, but looks nice with all the decorated tables, the big fire place where the meat is being grilled and the pergola on top of them. Swiss Italian (Ticino) music... More
