Fighting with Polenta

Now this is a most popular restaurant in Losone. The night we visited it was full, people waiting to get in. I've enjoy the atmosphere, the energy of the owners and the food faithful to local dishes. We took some overseas friends, they were happy with their choices, we sampled their dishes and... read more

We took some overseas friends, they were happy with their choices, we sampled their dishes and they were typical. So far so good... More

At the recommendation of our hotel we walked up to Grottino Ticinese and were fortunate to find one indoor table open. We recommend reservations. The people are charming, the food was AMAZING, the prices very fair,....did I say the food was amazing!!! We had the slow roasted beef with risotto and the homemade with polenta and the apricot pie for... More

Typical regional restaurant, rustical with enormous charme! Owner and waiters are very kind. Children are welcome. Starters, main dishes, desserts are mostly typical of the region and... delicious. home made cooking, like polenta, gnocchi, ice cream and cakes (try it!), salad is from the garden... very good choice of wine. Menu is written in dialect of Ticino, too. Cheap daily... More

On our short trip to the Ticino we certainl did not want to skip eating once in a typical grotto. We were lucky with the weather and could eat outside though towards the end it got a little cold for my wife. Customers appeared to be a mix of local people and a few tourists who were however clearly in... More

This is a typical Ticinese restaurant with a large open terrace, so need to visit when the weather is good. As I like the local food on offer, the first challenge was finding something on the menu to choose. Strangely enough I chose the UK Angus Steak and Risotto, and can fully recommend. However as we were a table of... More

Polenta, Risotto, Brasato, Spezzatino, Cold Cuts, Salads. Lovely atmosphere, great outdoor terrace with stone tables and benches and an outdoor open fire where they cook the polenta in an enormous copper cauldron. If you plan to visit over the weekend, then it is better that you reserve, it is usually always packed especially between 6.30 - 9.00. Plenty of space... More

Nice grotto, wonderful ambiance, stone tables, sun, Ticino feeling. Family with friends and kids (9 people). Excellent service, fast and attentive. Food was great. Take the real Ticino polenta.

It's a typical local, traditional restaurant. The atmosphere was easy going with friendly staffs. We started with a platter of cold cut meat, cheese platter and some pickled. Risotto was tasty but overcooked. House wine and dessert were fine. Overall it was a nice restaurant but nothing special.
