Went here for lunch with my wife. Staff were friendly and the food was average nothing special but reasonable value. This pub had a really good reputation for food some years back but seems to have gone downhill a bit in that regard. Probably would not go out of our way to go there again.

We were recommended this place to eat by the B& B owners where we were staying. We were pretty hungry and the food was very nice and we felt it was good value all round. They cater well for children, the staff were pleasant and overall I would definitely recommend it.

We had dinner in this pleasant pub. It was good pub food, nothing special but perfectly adequate. The staff were friendly and we felt quite comfortable as strangers.

Visiting and Olde English Establishment is very much like playing Russian Roulette. Sometimes superb and faultless - but the Wooldpack firmly had the bullet in the chamber on this occasion! We called for a birthday lunch at about 12-30 on a Friday. The Restaurant was already full and we found space in their overflow room. Because of the large number... More

This little pub is a venue I occasionally use to meet a good friend. The menu has a good variety of food, which is not 'top end', but represents good quality and even better value for money. Yesterday I had the ultimate burger, which completely lived up to its name. On arrival it looked a bit like an architects model... More

We had the tapas selection and they were all good which given we went to the Woolpack to eat was a tick in the box. However ,we felt the pub lacked a bit of atmosphere which for a Friday night was disappointing.

Came here for mothers day lunch with my family, the staff were fantastic! They really made us feel welcome and interacted with the young children in our group. The sunday roasts were just lovely, homemade yorkshires and beautiful roast potatoes. Not all of our party had roasts some ate of the main menu which had loads of choice and excellent... More

Does somehow lack a good atmosphere, although pleasant enough & not a problem with good company. The specials are tasty enough and good value accepting that portions are not large, particularly the starters. The new potatoes were very good with the chicken & fish dishes, both of which were fine, on the two meals for £9.99 offer. Shame Butcombe beer... More
