We have had numerous visits to New Quay but have never eaten here before - think its because from the outside it looked like a cheap holiday-camp stype cafe to me but on this occasion a lot of the other restaurants were jam packed and we were all starving hungry so this seemed our only option for a sit-down meal.... Well cooked, well presented .The price was the best in the town, really good value.and like I said the staff were very polite and helpful. The decor is a bit dated... More

I have always recommended this fish & chip shop/restaurant to guests staying in our B&B. I was so disappointed, when my Husband and myself went in there today. Some of the staff were miserable and unwelcoming, as for the fish and chips!!! What happened to the lovely light crispy batter? The batter today was thick and stodgy and very unappetising,... More

The chips were well-cooked but we couldn't understand why they were so bland. We then tasted a drop of the vinegar and realised that restaurant waters down the vinegar so much that it is like dropping water on your chips. Is vinegar really that expensive?

They are to be congratulated, they have achieved the impossible, undercooked soggy thick batter wrapped around overcooked dry cod. Amazing! Our guests ordered Haddock and when it arrived they were stunned to receive bread-crumbed fillets. The waitress, who behaved as if she was a dense and resentful teenager on work experience who didn't really want to be there, admitted it... More

Went there on Easter Saturday with local friends, ordered haddock and chips and friends ordered cod & chips, the haddock was frozen "findus" type, and when I queried this with the waitress, all I got was a shrug of the shoulders ! The batter on the cos was soggy as anything. The least we would expect for a fish and... More

Came here with my boyfriend for a day out and decided you couldn't go to a beach without having fish and chips too. The price seemed very reasonable so I went to sit as my boyfriend ordered. The woman taking the orders looked like she wanted to shoot herself she was so bored. The worst, was a blonde girl, young,... More
