This restaurant has a deservedly good reputation (whatever some people say on Trip Advisor) but surpassed itself on New Year's Eve! The special menu didn't have to be pre-booked but had a choice of 7 starters, 8 mains and 7 desserts (a possible recipe for disaster in a less professional environment!!). The staff were welcoming when we arrived, let us... More

Our walking group had our Christmas lunch at the Hungry Trout two weeks ago. What a fabulous meal: the whole works - plenty of turkey, stuffing, parsnips, sprouts, roasties et al, with gorgeous plum pudding and sauce to follow, finished off with mince pies and coffee. All for a very decent price (£15 p.p.) Will recommend to all visitors to... More

We visited this restaurant twice while on holiday in Wales. Sunday lunch was extra special. We ordered the old fashioned roast beef dinner with Yorkshire pudding and it was delicious. New Quay is also a unique village to visit.

I visited this restaurant last night with my friends and what a lovely place! Ambience was just right, cozy and welcoming! Polite staff combined with excellent food (scallops & duck breast to die for) make this a place to mark in my "favourites"!! :)

It's great to find a restaurant with a bit of imagination and somewhere that doesn't think all fish should be covered in batter and served with a mountain of soggy chips! This is a great little place with an interesting menu, several sea food dishes are on the menu, the food is well presented and the prices are reasonable. We've... More

We have visited The Hungry Trout many times over the years (we live near to Cardigan). We tried to book a Sunday lunch for 2 and asked for a table in one of the bay windows. We were informed that it wasn't their 'policy' to allow a booking for 2 in the bay window seats - in case a group... More

We are sorry that you are not happy with our table reserving policy, our problem is that we only have 2 window tables and when you phoned 1 of these tables had already provisionally been allocated for a table of 4, and you requested a table for 2 in the window guaranteed which we are not able to do as... It was nice to find a restaurant open in Newquay out of season. The Hungry Trout is open throughout the year except for three days at Christmas. The chef takes advantage of local produce to make freshly prepared dishes and so is able to cater for all dietary needs. The meals are excellently presented, exceedingly tasty and very good value... Myself and hubby went for a meal to celebrate anniversary and to commiserate last night of holiday. Being a Monday getting to end of main season it was quiet in the restaurant but both window tables were occupied. One of the groups at window table left whilst we were eating our starter, so the lovely waiter kindly cleared the table,... More
