After careful consideration, my sister and I decided on this venue for our Mum's 70th birthday celebrations. We were not disappointed. As promised, menus were emailed to us beforehand, to gather orders from the guests ( any last minute changes were catered for without any problems). We were welcomed in to the room the morning of the party, to decorate... More

Hi Simon, just a brief note to say thank you for the excellent dinner we had yesterday lunchtime at the Oak Inn. The private room for our party of twelve was snug, warm and perfect for our pre-Christmas family get-together. The food was excellent and the service was perfect - a big thank you from all my family to you... More

Was in the area again with friends and having had a great meal before in the restaurant a couple of years ago we went for the bar menu with a couple of pints. Beer was obviously well looked after (Butty Bach/Doom Bar) and the hearty sausages/burger/faggots really hit the spot - ideal for an autumnal day. This place provides always... More

Sorry, I hate to write a bad review, but unless this establishment gets its act together, we won't visit any time soon. We had booked a table for lunch, no one else was eating in the bar and when the food finally came it was dismal. Two young girls on the bar seemed undertrained and the whole place seems a... More

Superb food, beautifully presented, well priced, friendly staff and they accommodated gluten free with enthusiasm, what more can ask for.... We had a lovely webbing and will definitely go back!

The food when it came was lovely, but the wait was extremely long, with no apologies once it did arrive. Some of the food orders were incorrect and we had to send things back. Also had to ask for things like a spoon for the soup, a steak knife and sugar for the coffee. They weren't even busy, there were... More

Extra friendly, helpful staff, we booked and ate in the dining room taking the 3 course Sunday menu which delightfully included coffee. Best shandy I have had in a British pub, lovely wine by the glass, Pinot gris for me and Shiraz for my husband, beautiful starters, home made potato and leek soup and whitebait with home made tartare sauce... Pleasant surroundings with very good food although unfortunately the gammon was not available. Staff attentive and friendly but we waited so long between the starter and the main course that we finished the wine! Perhaps it is a cunning plan to sell that second bottle.

Have now eaten at The Oak Inn twice and felt compelled to write review. First visit was with 4 friends and we ate from the Al La Carte menu. Very eclectic menu. Everybody selected a different main and no one was disappointed. The desserts were exceptional. Very attentive staff who were very helpful and knowledgable about the menu. Second visit... More
