not happy with this place at all. service was poor even though there weren't many people eating there. food took ages to be served and when it was served the food was cold. cannot say in good faith that I enjoyed the food here. would not come back

Me and my boyfriend were wanting something a bit different after dining out fancy for four days straight. I found this restaurant on urban spoon and I wasn't disappointed. Delicious hearty flavoursome meals. Good Food. Good vibe. Good value. Highly recommended!

We wandered past on a Tuesday night and popped in, apparently it is so packed you can't get in on the weekends so we were pleased that there was plenty of space. I think the meals are supposed to be shared but as I was vegetarian and my friend was not we had our own meals. They are huge, delicious... More

The wait staff provided good service with a smile. We ate heaps but still had some left when we'd finished so one of my companions took it home to enjoy for breakfast.

Food is tasty, a bit rough in flavors. Service is ok, with a nice atmosphere. An affordable choice in the middle of brunswick.

Wandering along Brunswick St.with my dining partner we thought we would try this upstairs eatery as it sounded exotic. A beautiful tastefully decorated large and airy room, a tasty menu and friendly service. Beaut African beer and cider list and tasty meal ensued. A discount card to return was a nice surprise at the end.

First time to try African food, may be not used to the taste but I don't find much special in it. The place was quite crowded but we make a reservation so getting a table is not a problem. I don't think I will go back again any time soon

Walking around Fitzroy and I stumbled upon Nyala Restaurant. As I was very curious about African food, I decided to come back with friends several days later. Food was good, especially the different meat dishes they provide, me being a meat lover. Quantity is more than sufficient. You will not leave this restaurant with a hungry stomach. Staff are African... More

I have never had African food before Nyala's and this was an excellent experience. We had the deep fried cauliflowers for entrees and it was delish. For mains we had the mixed platter which is fantastic value as you get 4 curries and salad. The portions are huge. We had it with the traditional injera bread which I definitely recommend... More

Many years ago I used to go to an Ethiopian restaurant regularly. It was in the USA and not Africa, but I really loved it. It's been many years since I've had any Ethiopian food. Somehow today talking with colleagues I mentioned Ethiopian food, and we then searched the web to see if we could find some. This looked good and... More
