The menu was really weird food and the price was too high! I didn't like most of what we ordered to share. Service was good and they were nice to the kids. I wouldn't go back though.

We asked for the chef to decide for us, an option that is $65 a head. That was after asking for a glass of bubbles and a Coke Zero, to be told they have no diet drinks at all! The salmon starter was generous, but dull. It needed something to lighten it up. That was followed by a pot of... More

I was spoiled when a v excellent friend and self-confessed foodie took me to Hell for my b'day dinner! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect choice. Elegant with enough character to keep it in fitting with the alternative scene that is Fitzroy - a bold yellow door nestled amongst the greenest bushes you've ever seen is how you... More

I agree with another reviewer, this is definitely one of Melbourne's most under-rated restaurants. Do yourself a favour and go here. You will not regret it. We shared all of our mains and they were superb (the pork, the beef and the lamb - all melt in your mouth!). Order some chips on the side to mop up the sauce.... More

I recently went to this restaurant in a group of 12 and had a below average time. Firstly we were unable to order al la carte and were given no option other than the share menu. They had not made us aware of this at the time of booking either. We asked if we could split the table into 3... More

Hell of the North has found a spot on pitch with its food, service and ambience. The food was fantastic - 4 course 'degustation' but in a more wholistic and real way than many others without compromising on delicacy or technique at all. Vegetarian was as completely satisfied as the carnivores. Service was great, attentive, great advice, and then disappeared... More

Delicious food! I really enjoyed their gnocchi. It was cooked well and the gnocchi just melted inside your mouth. Every spoonful was amazing. We shall return.

I must admit I was not sure what to expect. We did the let us feed you $65 per head. All were very well presented. Every dish was tasty and unique. They serve each course for 3-4 people to share. You really need to be able to trust your mates as there were no serving spoons. I suppose we could've... More

It's hard to find a degustation that doesn't leave you and your partner wondering how you spent a week's rent on a series ornamental morsels. Hell of the North is different. It's no top end restaurant, but great value. At $65 a head, you will not go hungry. The dishes are still innovative. The pork rillette needs to come with... More
