Food outshines the service

We waited a long time to be given menus and the service was a bit slow afterwards as well. However the food was great: the foie gras was delicious with crostini, the potatoes a la Lyonnaise very delicate. Fish of the day and steak followed. The fries were divine. Great dessert wine.

This is the 3rd time we have been to Madame Sousou and this time the restaurant continues to excel. The service was friendly, professional and perfectly timed. The venue is a great place to people watch on Nicholson Street We had a late breakfast, and this time we both had the Madame Sousou big breakfast - which was huge (loads... More

We turned up without a reservation, and were given seats in the back room. We were getting rather testy initially because we were not given a menu for twenty minutes. Having said that, once we got past that, the service became impeccable and the food was excellent. We would certainly go back again.

I've had plenty of bad restaurant breakfast experiences in my life, but this is the first time I've written a review on here. Enough said? I'd be promised answers to questions (like could I move outside - because it was SO noisy inside) but never hear from them again. It took forever before anyone would take my order, I had... More

My wife and I are frequent visitors of restaurants in Melbourne and we've made an effort to try most of the chef hatted restaurants in town including most of the fine dining restaurants. We had dinner with our niece and her family tonight at Madame Sousou (for her 21st birthday) and it was by far the worse dining experience we've... More

We had a dinner reservation for ten that we made a month in advance, and they demanded a $200 deposit. The atmosphere was nice, and we enjoyed it for celebrating my daughter's graduation. Service was slow and the staff not well trained. The menu had a limited choice, but the food was only average. The price was high for what... More

My wife and I recently went to Madame Sousou for breakfast and let me start by stating that it was one of the best breakfast/brunches that we have had. We do breakfast a lot, weekly if not more and when we aren't out for breakfast on a weekend I am creating my own so I think that I'm 'qualified' to... More

I went here for Brunch on a saturday with a friend (at 11.30 AM, didnt order our food until 12 for those wondering if they do late breakfast\brunch!) The decor is very cosy and european cafe style. I ordered the Pain Perdu and a piccolo (which was excellent) while my friend had the spanish omlette. The Pain Perdu was very... More

With a 1 year old child, my wife and I don't get out for dinner very often so when we do we want it to be special. Madame SouSou did not disappoint! We received fantastic service and the food was excellent. My only complaint would be that there were a couple of times where glasses were left empty too long... More
